I enjoyed this post...very much.

Edit: I'll just say what I spent my money on. Saved it all. No reason to spend it. Except maybe on that car!

I get paid AU$24 an hour as a casual (no paid holidays, no sick leave, and some other stuff). Exactly how much work I do in a week varies a lot. For context, Australia's minimum wage is $15.51/h and the median weekly rent is ~$200.

Aside from food, 'lectrickery, etc. I spend it on books, the occasional game, and every so often something motorcycle related. A few days ago I coughed up half a grand for getting the thing serviced :( (on the plus side, it seems to be running better, possibly due to the new, aftermarked air filter). Some other stuff, too, and I try to save what I can.

Convert to USD that's 1580 a month no tax. Half my money goes to rent and feeding my parents, other half goes to insurance and daily expenses. Got about 120 for casual expense.

Damn, thats twice the United States minimum wage, and the Australian dollar is stronger than the American dollar right now isn't it?

Not that much.. I usually spend it on the occasional pack of smokes, alcohol, books and musical equipment.

Just paid mine off last month! :celebration: I'd only been paying on it a year (first home), but my very generous mom decided it would be a nice gift. Dang, do I owe her now!

Oh, as far as monthly income goes - "nunya bidness". ;)

Can't complain, especially since I work for a pretty small company. I could do better, but the working conditions are really good here and I have a lot of freedom, so it would be hard to give up. Money is spent on lots of things, some saved, some invested. I definitely spend too much of it on big city entertainment (restaurants, bars, see LOTS of live music, etc.), but hey, you only live once, right? :P I also just dropped $3500 US on plane tickets to Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Phuket next year. I'm sure it'll be worth it, though.

Yeah, great time for importing stuff, not so for our export industry :P.

"median weekly rent is ~$200". Petrol costs around $1.40/L ($5.30/gallon). The median house price in my city is somewhere around $550,000, I think (even if that's wrong, I'm pretty sure the lowest it'd be is~$400,000). 'Course, that varies a lot between suburbs.

EDIT: Also, a lot of people have a lot of debt. Median mortgage repayments are ~$1600/Month, from what a quick search tells me.

That was extremely generous - how nice of her. :)

It's a good feeling, isn't it? I had mine just shy of 15 years and managed to dispense with it more by luck than judgement, but it was nice not having it hanging over me any longer!

Not nearly enough (my boss fully admits to this), however I love my job and the perks (full control over my hours meaning it works perfectly with my school schedule as well as a fair amount of influence on the technical decisions made) do offset the low pay to a degree.

Spend most of the that doesn't get spent on bills on anime :P

I was in a broadly similar position before I jumped ship for a hefty pay increase; but with the benefit of hindsight, I think I would've chosen better if I'd stayed put.

I make $10.50 an hour. Which is pretty good for the fast food business and being my first job.

I get paid a HUGE WHOOPING LARGE SUM OF $0 a month. Being unemployed svcks big time and I don't really foresee myself earning money any time soon.

Not enough to tolerate the current level of pointless [censored]ery, and disregard for the cost of living increases in current depressed economic times.
I pay medical bills with it, and we have health insurance. I pity, really pity those without it.

Just got laid off, because corporate fired all temps. But at the time, $15.00 per hour, with $22 overtime. I usually made high $400 - $500 a week. Spent it mostly on gas money, which was $50 to $100 dollars a week, depending on which route I took. Other things that drew out of it was booze, which was $30 over other week, lunch being $30 if I went out, the occasional $40 for DS games, and $200 every month to pay off student loans.

I have to say, it was good money for only being a temp worker just right out of college. Well, now to chase my goals and ambitions now that I have somewhat of a working record.
