How possible could this be?

Post » Tue Feb 15, 2011 6:48 pm

I know it's very unlikely we will see a new dlc besides the already announced ones, but how possible would it be for a dlc to be made that could add a Saloon/Brothel accessible through the main menu that you could go to to hang out with other people. No new quest/perks/level cap or anything, but rather a dlc that offers a fun setting that players could interact with other players. Could be used like the forums to ask questions and what not. It wouldn't be tied in with the main game like other dlc, rather a dlc that offers a new feature to the main menu. I know you probably couldn't interact with characters across different platforms.

I guess what I'm asking is... What kind of obstacles would they face?

All joking aside... why do you think it can't be done? I know it stands no chance of ever happening with this game, but what if they could? Would you not use this feature? The social aspect would appeal to a more broad audience and mean more revenue for the company to fund such an idea. I really just would like to know what hurdles you think they would have to overcome to implement such an idea.

Playstation Home is just like this sounds. Can't compare to anything on Xbox and PC though.

Because it's a single player game, with no multiplayer or online capabilities at all. The game simply isn't made for it. The money it would cost to modify the engine, set up text or voice based communication, server setup and costs, plus paying moderators for what would basically be a FNV themed chat room would likely far outweigh what the "social aspect" would bring in.

Actually I think its more likely that Sol will go supernova at all, which is to say, impossible.

I don't want to disparage anybody, so I hope none of what I say contributes to doing just that.

I don't understand why people want to see multi-player (or social aspects, or whatever) in a game that was designed to be a single-player game. It's no different than, say, buying a Dell and then asking everybody why it isn't or won't ever be Alienware.

You bought a single-player game. It says it right on the back of the package: "Players 1"

If Obsidian (or Bethesda, because I know people talk about the same thing with TES) wanted the game to be multiplayer, or anything *other* than a single-player game, they would have just done it.

To the people who request this feature, why don't you just play in a virtual world or a MMORPG?

As for challenges, I'd be willing to bet that the fact that this game is a huge, open, scripted environment would hinder multiplayer a great deal.

Actually it would be possible and most likely not cost a whole lot of money to set up, but it would be at most a hack and only computer users would be able to access it. A mod could be created that has multi-player aspect to it. It's doubtful it will happen. Actually it would be much more then a hack, more like what someone said a 3d chat room with fallout theme ala secondlife

Netcode and server hosting. Also, the PC version already has ingame chat via steam.

Well, typically, single player games have a lot more interaction s well as graphical depth to them then MMOs, so it is perfectly understandable why people might want the ability to play with others. Also considering potential roleplaying aspects. No longer having to traverse a world along with near mindless AIs following you.

MMO worlds tend to be sparse in detail and lacking in features.

Give it five billion years or so.

Our sun, Sol, can NEVER go supernova. It is far too small. It will expand into a red giant, then collapse into a white dwarf.

The MMO wont be Fallout 4. BethesdaGS will be doing Fallout 4 either after Skyrim or TES6/some other game
