How to recruit BoS? : Fallout: New Vegas

I did all the quests for the BoS and helped Hardin overthrow the leader. Now i cant talk to them and they said that it would take a while for the new leader to take effect. So i did a bunch of stuff and killed Mr. House and everything, but when i talk to Yes Man it only gives me the option to ignore them. What should i do? Should i just wait for a while for hardin to become elder? And on another not, just for fun i made a new save and started the battle just for the hell of it. But when i got there none of the people i worked so hard to convince to join me were there. What gives? When do they come into play?

If you make Hardin the Eldar then you can't 'recruit' the BoS, because Hardin isn't peaceful. So, the BoS won't join the NCR or help you out if Hardin is eldar. Sorry.

EDIT: BUT, if you make Hardin Eldar than you can get Power Armor Training, I don't know if McNamara teaches Power Armor Training or not.

You're able to join the Brotherhood if you keep the current Elder.
But you go up in the ranks, rather than just being made a Paladin straight up. Takes a bit longer.

Yeah, I found out about that the hard way. Wiping out the Brotherhood was the only thing the NCR were doing that I disagreed with.
Was enough for me to change my allegiance and go with Yes Man, and told him to leave the BoS alone.
I like the Brotherhood. :]

I found this out after i helped hardin lol

Also hardin makes you kill the Van Graff's which can interfere with other quests, the original elder generates no such conflicts.
