How do I retexture Skyrim meshes?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 11:00 pm

1st off, if this doesn't belong here feel free to report this to be moved, or tell me and I'll do it, but personally I couldn't think of any better location for the topic so I posted it here. Anyways, here it goes.

Apparently Nifscope with support of Skyrim meshes has been out, so, naturally, I downloaded it and poked around for a bit and realised there is no line with assigned texture, or at least none that I recognize (haven't modded Oblivion, and Morrowind had an obvious purple flower-like icon next to it). I've seen black TXT sign showing off what probably is a name of the texture, and when I double clik on it I can't change that name, but only an odd number at the end of it. So yeah, I don't really know what I'm doing here and some help would be appreciated. :P

Thanks in advance.

Ok, I figured it out, I think, looks like the Block Details stores this stuff, it has the purple icon and lets me choose the texture. However when I assign one it doesn't show up, render model is still white.

EDIT: idiot me, it needed to be expanded. One thing I have to ask. Each texture has two copies, example of the dagger I opened had two for the blade and two for it's scabbard. Weapon's 2nd one has added n, which probably stands for normal map. But what does m stand for?
