How to setup guards

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 11:01 am

Hi

I have a city in a new worldspace, that I want to be guarded all over the place. All the guards should work together. Right now they should just react on getting attacked, later on I will learn to setup ownership and how to deal with the crime of stealing.

So ...
I created a new actor called ARGuardRoyal. Found a nice race and default outfit, added a sword to the inventory.
I created a new faction called ARGuardsCityRoyal. The actor is a member of the faction now.

Now I spread a bunch of them in my city, for instance on the road leading to a palace. If I attack one of them, they do (all) grab their weapon, but they dont attack me. I have tried to play around with the aggression attribute, i set the assistance to 'help friends and allies' .. nothing seems to help. i want the guard to go completely mental on you if you harm any of them.

What am I missing ?

Hmm, from the video, it looks like it could be a combatstyle issue. Try giving the guards the same combat style as other guards in the game. Guards use a template of a template of a template with all this leveled actor bogus, so it can be tough to hunt down the combat style, but from the video it looks like they are not attempting to flank you at all or strafe you which is what they should do if given a melee weapon.

It could also be a package issue, where they are using some sort of hold position combat override package.

Look into those two things, maybe you can find something.
