How to skip quest stages? What is required?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 11:40 pm

I restarted the game because of 1.4 beta I want to play with everything fresh and see various fixes and about game save size.

Anyways I dont want to restart the entire main quest again I was right up to the part where you first meet the dragon and he wants you to go find the elder scroll. Throat of the World I think its called.

Anyways, I wanted to know what the command is to give myself that quest and continue from there or set my stage to that point so I can just continue forward from there.

I however don't know the proper commands as there were a few I seen; that result in what I am asking for. Any help is great!

snip

setstage Sets the current stage of the given quest. Example: setstage ms01 100. The setstage command is useful for advancing broken quests, finishing quests instantly, or for skipping ahead to a certain point in a quest. You can find the quest's ID code, as well as the various stages of the quests and their corresponding stage numbers, on the respective quest page. To start, see the main index of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Quests.

I should caution you, it may break some things.

Honestly easier to just do it IMO, not worth potential breakage.

Yeah, I would think trying to do this would break your game hard at some point.

If you are going to start a fresh and proper game, then go through it fresh and proper.

You can't.

Scripts are run on stage completions, and also sometimes when you get to a certain point, through the game world or dialogue for example. Setting a stage of a quest when you haven't done the preceding ones will break your game.

Break my game in what way though? As In I cant finish the main quest or will just make it extra hard to do whatever quest I set the stage too because I did not go to the areas or aquire the items required for said quest beforehand?

Unless it was destroy what Mods do like DD or Wars in Skyrim and make AI act differently I think ill take my chances.

Alot of ways: Stories and quests getting messed up...

It is not as easy as you think. Do what the others said, just do the MQ the proper way. IMHO, the MQ was not that long (For me at least).

When you go to certain places, complete certain bits of dialogue or progress in a quest, scripts are run. These can be scripts that give you the appropriate reward, do special effects or whatever, and these are harmless.

However most of them will enable people, kill some off, disable/enable objects and areas, add the appropriate dialogue and quest items.

If you are on say quest 2, you'll find that the scripts from quest 1 didn't run. So maybe the Graybeards won't even be there when you go to the mountain, they might not have the dialogue required to further the quest, stuff like that. Also, a lot of the quests have conditions, say GetQuestCompleted MQ02. As you haven't technically completed MQ02, the quest won't run.

So yeah, lots of issues. Just do it how the game is designed.
