it only took me from the first issue of FNV till now to discover that pre-war money was more valuable to use at traders---such as gunrunners- than caps! lol!

4,000 in p-wm is worh about 20,000 caps...more or less.
which makes the "fortune hunter" perk pretty much worthless. just grab the cash, people.

Having the sinks and tubs in my Lucky 38 bathroom overflowing with stacks of cash is far more valuable than the cap value for me

True I suppose, Ruin has 100 Barter and about 15-20k P-WM so... I never really sat out and calculated the value.

Notice that you can't trade it for casino chips. This implies that it's a commodity and not a recgonized currency.

It's so valuable because it's used for toilet paper, which is no longer produced.

New Vegas has a larger population than the Capital Wasteland. More people means more pooping, which means more need of toilet paper. Which means it's runnig out faster and thus has more value as an unrenuable resource.

I always use Pre-War Money, seems logical with it's zero weight and value. :whistling:

yeas, i understand your point, but having just recently started a fresh game on hard and finding only a few caps here and there, and having to try and kill everyone in sight to steal what they have just to find out i still can't afford to buy any worthwhile guns or armor early in the game, it came as a pleasant surprise.
am glad you have and enjoy tubfuls of p-wm money you don't need in your crib.

i always just collect pwm and use it in a spot that i dont wanna spend my caps usually when im buying 5-6k weapons or armor or some such.
After DM i was overflowing with cash cause id just sell the stuff i picked up most of the time to them and they only have pwm thats valuable.

I'm don't normally sell pre-war money because I get rich off selling the armor and weapons I take from my opponents.

Even those of us who seek to artistically visualize the folly of the pre-war condition that lead to the Fallout universe.... by filling an area designed to dispose of waste with stacks of money..... while sacrificing the value of that money to our character for that artistic vision.... have feelings....

You can actually almost milk as much money out of the Sierra Madre by exchanging your casino winnings for Pre-War Money than you make by selling the Gold bars. I may be wrong, but I think you can potentially make ~130,000 caps from exchanging those winnings, whereas the gold gives you ~370,000. Not anywhere near as much, but in a practical sense, yes it is. It's more than you'll ever need.

You can also sell gold bars to vendors there for pre-war money. Much easier to resell the PWM in the Mojave than selling the Gold bars.
