How training should be.

I found Angie's Shack behind Falkreath yesterday, for the first time ever. I did not know what a woman was doing all alone so far up in the mountains.

Needless to say i spoke to her, learned her awesome and unique story, and then proceeded to ask for Archery Training. Instead of paying and somehow gaining levels, she took me down to her archery range and made me EARN the skill. And not just one skill point, but like 6!

The target practice you go through is pretty easy but fun at the same time. I finally for once felt like I earned the training. I know it isn't time friendly to do this everytime you train, but I like it a whole lot better than the mindless "pay x amount due to X level" and walk away. that is so lame.

Has anyone else found her and done this? Does anyone else agree that training should actually involve training? I do.

I loved this quest, simple, and I wish I could interact more with Angie. Great story to why she is up there, too.

I have not found that npc yet but I'm gonna find her now. That sounds cool, and I totally agree that training should be more involved. You always see soldiers and such firing arrows at targets and hitting dummies with melee weapons to train. You should get points for doing those things too, in my humble opinion.

It does indeed sound much better than simply paying for experience! Actually doing the task that requires you to gain experience levels. I'll need to find her. Thanks!

Yeah getting there is kinda tricky. I tried mountain climbing but ended up finding fting to Bloodlet Throne, yet another awesome vampire place for all you vampire slayers and for all you wannabe crystal skinned freaks =p

Also if you do take the path near pinewatch, look at the uniqueness of the entire area going up. A small group of bandits making camp, a lone hunter doing the same 300 ft in the mountain. Just an all out wonderful experience to add to the archery training.

And you also see mages in the college practice, as well as having some newbies come ask the archmage for training (if you are archmage)

I want a patch or dlc whatever to change training to where you WORK for you skill and cough up coin. It is a money pit beth put in but it doesn't help at all

I also think that real time training like that would make everyone appreciate their abilities more, rather than taking them for granted because they paid for their knowledge or they watched a youtube video showing them how to cheat the system. (Or they were on PC and could just do anything they wanted anyway...)

yeah I for one feel like my skill increase through real training makes a difference.

Can you train me in ____? Sure, 2000 gold. OK done. Wait, I just instantly learned something without even practicing? WOAH!!

I loved doing that, your actually training instead of forking out god knows how much gold.
I also liked how she tells her story the more time you spend with her.

Damn! I still need to do that. I'd forgotten about her. I'll do that very soon. It seems more "real world" to pay someone 10 coins to train you in real time, than to just pay 2,000 gold and just say that you did it. Especially the magical arts. Those would be fun during training. Conjuration, Destruction, Illusion.....

Yes. When I first did the College and practiced using wards I was like 'this is so cool, I'm at the College of Winterhold actually learning'.
They should've added lessons regularly or something.
