How to use the Logitech G27 Wheel In Rage

Post » Mon Oct 17, 2011 7:08 am

Hey guys. This is a follow up to my attempt to get the Logitech G27 Racing wheel working in Rage on Windows 7. I used Toca Edit (x360ce) and Pinnacle Game Profiler to enable the Wheel alongside the controller for a more richly immersive game. The down side to this technique is that you lose vibration for the 360 controller and you don't get feedback for the G27 Wheel. Toca Edit is used to bind the G27 Wheel to the Xbox controller using xinput given you proper anolog control.

With this process, you lose the ability to natively use the 360 controller and must then map the controller to the Mouse and Keyboard using Pinnacle (or just use your keyboard and mouse if you want). If anyone knows how to use the 360 controller and G27 wheel together using Toca Edit, please let me know. I included all of the files necessary to get this to work. Check out the link below (Scan for viruses if you're not sure about the safety of the content).

Enable the Wheel Using Toca Edit:

x360ce.exe , xinput1_3.dll and x360ce.ini Must be placed in the Rage game directory.

Example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Rage (windows 7)

If you want to edit the settings and mapping for the Wheel, run the x360ce.exe program and make and save any your changes then close the program (it should be closed when you play the game unlike pinnacle which needs to run in the notification area). Be sure that the Xbox 360 Controller is off because Toca Edit will detect it and make it your primary controller which then disables the Wheel.

Tip: If your using the Logitech G27 or earlier, set the Rotation in the wheel properties to between 180 - 200 degrees for snappier handling.

Mapping the Controller Using Pinnacle:

You can download and install Pinnacle Profiler from http://pinnaclegamep....com/downloads. It's a 30 Day trial and $24.99 to register. There is a cheaper (or free?) alternative called X-Padder but i like the features in pinnacle.

I included a profile for Pinnacle Profiler which maps the xbox controller to the Keyboard and Mouse. Double click on Rage.pin to import the profle in Pinnacle. You will then need to select Rage.exe filer from the game directory.

Example: C:\Program Files (x86)Bethesda Softworks\Rage\Rage.exe

I had to change some default Keyboard controls to adapt the Xbox 360 Controller to the unique layout controls of the keyboard. Copy the default.cfg file in the base for of the game directory to change the Keyboard Controls. You can customize the keys however you want, but you must change the settings in Pinnacle to match. Look at the Rage Default Profile.pdf and Rage Shift Mode.pdf to
