I have not seen the algorithyms for this game, however back in the Morrowind days when we derived all the equations it was found that Luck played a part in every equation. It could add up to 12.5% to the outcome on everything you did. Even enchanting and Alchemy. There were some formulas that Luck could play an even bigger role in.
Luck continued in this way with Oblivion and then to Fallout 3. What I don't know is if the 12.5% factor is the same or if it is some other magnitude. This is the first game where Gambling is a part of the play, and there is a combat outcome that is very visible as far as Luck's part in the outcome, Critical Chance. So, people seem to focus soley on those two things as being what Luck is for. However, Luck is part of each and every equation that the game crunches to determine the outcome or result.
Based on how these games have been programmed under Bethesda, I would say that ignoring Luck as a Stat would be detrimental to your success in the game. I have seen the game change siginificantly in subtle ways having a higher Luck Level. The only question I have is, does having a Luck below 5 hurt the outcomes or just make them a little less successful In other words, is a Luck Level of 4 the same as applying a Negative 1 to the equations that Luck is used in, or, is it just using the value of 4 in the equations.
