How do you change ground textures?

Hello folks hopefully this will be easily resolved. How do you change the ground textures using Landscaping Mode? I bring up the box and can see all the options for a ground textures but thats as far as I get. All I seem to be able to do with landscaping is change ground height.

Right click to paint textures. There is a maximum number you can have per quarter cell (6, iirc).

You can press "I" in landscaping mode while hovering cursor over a cell to see how many textures are currently being used. You can delete textures from the list to make room for more, but deleting the first texture in the list used to corrupt your cell. Not sure if that's still true.

Edit: Make sure you have the 'edit colors' box unchecked to paint textures.

Strange, when I attempt to paint over LFieldGrass01 with LFieldGrass01NoGrass the grass isn't removed. The textures are identical but I assume one features long grass while the other does not.
Turns out the grass isn't attached to any land, the ground I was trying to edit was actually a static object, I was just fooled into thinking it was part of the landscape by the grass.
So I suppose my new question is: How do I remove floating grass?
