HPMagicka Ratio for a pure mage?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 5:10 pm

I have plans to level my Stamina up by 100 points, and then rest will go into HP/Magicka

I was thinking a 1/3 or a 1/4 ratio. I'm just not so sure.

Any suggestions?

I went with 6 Magic//3 Health//1 Stam

Health because staying alive is a good thing.
And Stamina to help with carrying.

So 3/1/1 is what you did. What's your level and "Attributes" at?

Thats going to be my build most likely, working on Destruction/Alteration/Restoration/Illusion first. Probably will be using Conjuration unperked aswell.

Not all of that is set in stone, and it will most likely be changed around a bit. But just a general direction. At this point I'm wondering whether unperking pickpocket and perking Conjuration would be worth it. I'll just test things out, only trouble i'm having is attributes though =/

I didn't bother with stamina on my mage, and my magicka/health ratio was roughly 5/1. No armor meant I had plenty of carry weight and I didn't need any stamina for combat.

My lv is 44.

My stats are..

Magicka: 370
Health: 220
Stamina: 140

I guess you don't have to invest in stamina. I do though, because having extra weight capacity is nice.

I'm more of a spellsword, so I'd like atleast a little stamina for melee when I run out of magicka. Might just wind up using the bound sword.

You don't need stam unless you're going to do power attacks. All depends on your playstyle.

I went pure mage. Picked Magicka at every level up. My health and stamina are still at 100.

I deal with the extremely low health by running backwards and casting powerful Destruction spells, or by hiding behind one of my summoned creatures.

With enchanting, you can reduce your need for magicka. But you will really want health, especially if playing at the harder difficulty levels.

If you're a spellsword restoration is good(Hell, if you're any class restoration is good). You can keep casting Fast Healing(with the respite perk), and basically have infinite stamina.

Indeed, it makes increasing stamina less important.

As for the ratio: If you are going to a spellsword character I would take health and magica on a 1/1 or a 2/3 ratio as a spellsword is more of the balance right between the mage and warrior.

I went with 400 health, the rest in magicka. With the Atronach sign, archmage robes, and fortify magicka gloves, that's more than 400 magicka. For carry weight I just raised pickpocket to 50 and got extra pockets.

The stamina helps for long runs as well.

On my pure mage I went pure magicka. I was something of a "glass cannon".

Playing a pure mage, I only increased magicka. I thought I'd start putting points into health once I felt I have enough magicka for my needs, but I didn't realize that there's never such a moment for a destro mage who doesn't use enchanting ;)

Seriously though, I guess I could have put some points into health, but I kinda like playing glass cannon characters.

I used a 4/1 ratio 4=Magica, 1=Health.

I completely disregarded Stamina. I have boots enchanted to let me carry more loot. Sprint away? What's that? Why should I run when my Follower has them locked up tight at about 20 yards off?

;)
