Huge bug with Victor and House

[PLAYING ON PS3]

Hello, all. I have a question regarding the first meeting with Mr. House – namely, a bug I’m encountering with Victor at the front door to the Lucky 38.

Upon first entering the strip, Victor accosts me out of nowhere and informs me that Mr. House would like to speak to me. I blow him off, telling him I’d get to it when I felt like it. Afterwards, my adventures include pursuing Benny and doing work for the Van Graffs. Soon after that, when I started to feel as though I’d ignored him long enough, I decide to head to the Lucky 38…

…only to find Victor dead on the doorstep, for no apparent reason. At first I thought “Hey, no problem. House invited me, so I’ll seek him out without Victor’s help”. Then, upon entering the casino, House’s robots begin bombarding me with grenades, including the “other” Victor by the elevator. I’m confused, naturally – why are his bots hostile, if he wants me to seek him out? When I examined the bodies of the robots on the casino floor, I noticed that the Victor I saw was no longer there. Curious, I take the elevator up to the Penthouse to see if House is there. When I arrive, I find that all of these bots are hostile, as well, including the bot that takes your snow globes. I was forced to put them all down (no more snow globes for me, apparently). After investigating the suite, I find the giant monitor that House is supposed to manifest himself on showing a message to the effect of “signal disconnected”, or something, with no possibility of interacting with it. That option’s gone. I explore a bit more, and find the real House in his control room. There’s no reasoning with the man at this point – the only option was open hostility.

So, question: was this whole series of events set off by not being able to speak to Victor in front of the casino? Is there absolutely no way to salvage things with House if Victor’s dead? Why is Victor dead in the first place? Can he ever respawn and return things to normal? Granted, I didn’t really intend on siding with House in this playthrough, but this glitch would be absolutely game breaking if I did. In the very least, I’d like to exchange my snow globes with the man before I kill him. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks in advance for giving thought to this admittedly loaded question!

I dont know. You went into houses control room? If you did this before all the hostility. Thats why. As soon as you use that terminal to access Mr. Houses cryolab, you are automatically set as a hostile.

So, what did you think of Vault 11 when you visited it?

Fun - two pulse grenades finished off the whole bunch.

But, otherwise, the bots were hostile the second I stepped into the casino because I didn't ask Victor if I could enter. He was dead, so that was an impossibility. If Victor can move from Securibot to Securibot, why should one of them dying have such a huge effect? Is it possible for Victor to every respawn at at front door, or am I doomed to be hostile towards House?

I was giving you a hint.

Vault 11 apparently has a turret set to Lucky 38 faction. Which means 'oops.' Not everyone seems effected by the problem.

Oh, hell. Thanks.

Still, why do you think Victor is dead? Is this unrelated?

Apparently Victor suicides if you're hostile to the faction. Which you are because of some Vault 11 erroneous behavior.

Torn between two alleigances, Victor commits robo-seppuku.

Thanks so much for the info - this answers all my questions. If I plan on siding with House in the future, I'll avoid the final room of Vault 11. Shame. It's a fantastic dungeon.

True...forcing the confrontation like that makes House a rather inconsequential character, just another enemy to be put down.

I've heard of certain PC's in the wastes that can reset House's security system, thereby rendering his bots friendly to you when activated. Would that work even if I destroyed the turrets in Vault 11?

Just checked the GECK.
The problem is that the template the vault 11 turrets are based on, CrTurretCeiling01, belongs to Lucky38Faction.
