A huge problem

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 3:37 pm

My friend has a problem. He recently joined the thieves guild and when he walked out of the ratway he was instantly attacked by everyone in the city, even children, once he sheathed his sword. He died and reloaded and the same thing happened when he sheathed his sword. He ran to a few different cities and even people from outside the hold in Riften attacked him. He didn't commit any crimes either. And he didn't want to reload his save since he hadn't saved since the beginning of the game. This all happened on the PS3 and I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and/or knows how to fix it.

Is he the highlest level vampire? (level 4?) If he is, everyone attacks on sight.

I don't know, but I highly doubt it. He just started playing the game 2 days ago and he barely knows anything about it.

Has he spent his time killing the NPC's in town...... they dont like when you do that

on the other hand, he's likely a level 4 vampire

There havent been any bugs that big, not even on the PS3

But...why would you do that on a PS3? I don't have one, but they all have on-board storage, right?

Maybe he has one without an HDD. I dont know if they have built in storage or if its all done on the HDD. Maybe the storage he does have is used up for profiles and game updates?

Maaaaaybe...is this sort of thing common with PS3 people? I have a 360 (playing Skyrim on PC though) and I can't imagine bothering to use the thing without being able to save games.

Well I do have a mate with a 360 who only has a mem card, so yeah its kinda common especially now that a lot of the older models are on sales 2nd hand that dont have storage as standard.

Start a new game and see.

I had a problem in Morrowind all of the Hlaalu guards attacked me every time I entered a town they was in. It was always a mad dash to get where I wanted to go, luckily they did not follow you inside of places in that game.

Ha! When Doom came out for the old N64 my buddy and I had to leave the thing running 24 hours a day for a whole summer. No memory card.

I'll see if I can find out anymore information on this; if I do I'll bump this thread. Hopefully he won't have to restart though.

I had the same issue when I entered riften. I had to reload from a save. I fixed it buy completely avoiding the guy you encounter from the thieves guild when you first enter Riften. I Understand that he didnt save becuase of no HDD or Memory card, but I know I couldnt play that way. That svcks. He may have to start over.

...Which makes it more likely that he contracted vampirism and became a level 4 vampire in town without even knowing about it.

Or, check the character stats, go on "crime", and see if he really has no bounty on him. I can't imagine other things that would get him attacked on sight besides crime and stage 4 vampire, but if it was crime the guards would arrest him when he sheathed his weapon.

Ok this could be right, I'll ask him about it, thanks.

Eh, like he said, check your bounty. You had to have killed someone in the view of the guards or something.....or you have picked up the vamp disease. Checking your crime tab and/or your current active effects will tell you. GL! Hopefully you figure it out!

I would go with vampirism. In your magic menu, check for vampiric powers. If he is a lvl 4 vampire, he has to feed from someone who is sleeping. If he has some bounty on his head...well, sheath the weapons and hope they will only take you to jail (or let you pay off your bounty) or run. Fast.

Huh. Learn something new every day. I had no idea that was a common sort of thing to do. I would have thought it would make most modern games unplayable.

I heard someone mentioning a similar problem a while ago. He was attacked on site whenever entering Riften or getting near any Rift guard. In all likely hood he is most probably a vampire and hasn't realised yet. Get him to check his bounty rating in the character info tab, it's low or empty then its definitely a bug.
