Hunting footprints

I think that (as shown in the creation week thing) footprints should show up. For hunting it would be so much better following the footprints to find the target. Seeing footprints in snow was good and I think it would add a new level of immersion.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is added later. Most of the Gamjam stuff seems like it will be added.

I hope that's what they meant...not just your own footprints, but those of every NPC or animal/creature too.

of course, there's still the compass marker - imagine how cool the game might have been had they made you rely on things like footprints to track a target rather than the big red arrow...

I think footprints in the snow was probably my favourite thing from that Game jam video. I'd really like to see it make it into the Skyrim at some point.

The processing required to render and track individual footprints over time...

I doubt it will be anything like what you're wanting although that would be nice. Unfortunately all those hundreds of footprints created in real time would eventually cause game to stutter. Most likely you'll see a short trail behind you that will fade away when you reach a certain distance. Kind of like the snow filling them in. That's how most other games deal with it when characters level footprints in sand or snow. I doubt the game could keep up with them the way you're wanting.

I never really thought of that. It would be a very neat thing and add quite a bit of immersion, yet I don't know if it would work.

Tbh in few years with crytek 3 this won't be issue anymore. Especially with upcoming hardware improvements. I think inside of 10 years we will be really amazed by games... Just remember how much games evolved past 5 years ;P...
