At level 15 your better off going around the Labyrinth.
My level 22 stealth archer probably can't handle them,at least not that many.
Those Frost Trolls are probably one of the most fearsome creatures in Skyrim.

If you absolutely have to go through there try fire scrolls or spells if you have them.
Poisons can help to negate there natural health regeneration and paralize poisons can help you get in more hits with out taking damage.
Good luck.

Frost Trolls start of as some of the most fearsome creatures in Skyrim, but from around level 20 they stopped troubling me. A way to defeat them is by using fire so they won't regenerate health, or pick them off from a distance with your bow. At around level 40 I started easily OHKOing them with a sword, and I could manage OHKOs with bows from level 25 on.

For a while I literally just ran around in circles while my follower whittled trolls down, although the followers (especially melee ones) will eventually get beat down. Some characters should be able to outrun them (heavy armor users probably can't) and trolls telegraph their attacks to a degree, and can be avoided if you're good at poking in and out of melee range.

If you keep your distance and pick them off one at a time, you should be okay. Just be patient and save a lot. I found one on the left when I first went up the steps. That one might sneak up behind you if you don't take care of it before going up to the main area. I did a lot of running and spell casting when I first went there. If you have two of them coming at you, a strategic retreat would be best.

If you have shield charge you can keep them off their feet indefinitely while you pound them to death, the unrelenting force shout should work similarly but it doesn't recharge fast enough for you keep them down perpetually. Fire does work well, but depending on the difficulty level you'll probably be better off with a weapon enchanted to do fire damage than a destruction spell. If you want to fast level your combat skills they are pretty good targets, they regenerate quickly, so you can pound on them for a while (indefinitely if you give them time to heal), they don't hit as hard as giants, mammoths or dragons, and they often pause in combat to beat their chests and roar giving you a chance to use healing magic if you get hurt.

Frost trolls are really hard enemies when you are on low level. They can be beaten on small level but it needs good strategy. Easiest way to do so is to get somewhere high where they can't climb and then shoot them full of arrows.

sorry guys but i don't see how they can be problem at level 15... i have killed them few at that level, you just need to specify with one single weapon style first... once you have weapon style at 70, they are no big deal and are killed easily...

This is what i love most about this game, unlike fallout where every time i see a deathclaw i piss my pants, in skyrim i am prepared and not afraid to face anything.... dragons bring it on, priests nothing my bow cant handle, giants aint so tough with an arrow in their face, and trolls firebolts and fireballs do the trick nicely.

of course I'm at level 40 but if you rank up properly you shouldn't be running into issues with any enemy.

I can't say anything about level 15 (no memories facing Frost Trolls at that level) my memories about really hard Frost Trolls are from lvl 4. Anyway I can say that it's rare to have any weapon style on 70 when you are on level 15.

You think bears are hard? I can't see how that can be. Anyway if you want to find true challenge on lvl 40 find a group of NPC mages. Only thing which can kill lvl 40 player with one or two hits are ice spikes and fireballs. It needs really good coordination to dodge them.

I don't think I had my main weapon skill at 70 when I was level 30 (with a dual-wielder). This might come as a surprise to you, but not everyone's characters develop like yours.

Mages i can take out with a bow from a distance and i can see them quite clearly with there colourful glowing magic shields illuminating them, now a bear all you hear is a roar and as your turning frantically to see where its coming from its already at your ass with its deadly claws practically invisible in its surroundings.

so yes i think bears are tough, not that i die from them easily.

Well there's a huge difference between our playing styles. When a bear comes on my skin I just swing my battle-axe once and it's dead before it can hurt me. With mages I have to run on their skin to kill them and dodge their spells when doing so. One mage is not bad but three or four can make spell-dodging really challenging.

Keep a paralyze poison handy. I met that one jerk on the steps up to High Hrothgar. The paralyze poison worked VERY well.

This is true, i suppose head on combat would prove way more challenging then the sneak and pick'em off method.

"Jerk" is used lightly...this [censored] killed me about 8 times before I broke down and used my fire scrolls. Using fire scrolls he was dead in about 15 seconds...

At around level 15 I just gave up and went around Labyrinthian.

I think I killed one with some arrows, a lot of poisons and Lydia. But there were too many. I think maybe I was able to sneak round them.

Now with a level 42 warrior they are just minor nuisances.

everything in Skyrim is weak compared to my Pure Mage Dark Elf. Fire my friends fire kills all trolls but most effective against the Frost type.
I used to have problems with cave bears over Trolls and Giants even dragons went down easy. But the Bears always seemed to be stronger til I figured out i had to much magic not enuff cast cost reductions.

I'm so glad I found this thread, I thought I just svcked at fighting trolls, but seeing as all my characters are below level 15 currently, that explains a lot! lol

Yeah, they were trouble for me all the way up to level 18 when I got the perk to move fast with my arrow pulled. From then on I could just run backwards and shoot the hell out of them. Even if they reached me, I would be out of their reach before hitting animation would begin because they stop when they start to attack.
