Idea about the sleep

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:27 pm

Hey, I have an idea that would improve the game to make it more realistic, can you make that the sleep doesn't lasts 24 hours, just 8 hours? That would be more realistic and will help us in very aspects, because if you are a vampire and only wants to play on night (in game) you have to wait like 12 minutes (real life), then play 12 minutes, wait 12 minutes and so... but if you sleep only 8 hours you can go out on night and on day sleep the 8 hours.
And in some quests you are asked to wait until a certain hour, for example when skjor asks you to meet him in the underforge at night. For the houses too, if you want to buy something but it is still 10pm you have to wait 10 minutes (real life) to buy something.
What do you think about this idea?

I'm not sure what you're talking about.

You choose the number of hours that you want to sleep ... unless there's something different in this regard for vampire characters (never played one.).

I would hate to have to spend half my play time waiting, no thanks.

the option of wait that remains like that, where you choose how many days you want to wait. But the option of sleep doesn't give you the chance of choose the hours you want to sleep, you go to a bed, choose sleep, and an entire day passes, if there is 10pm you awake the next day in the same hour. How can anyone like that the option of sleep is reduced to 8 hours? If you want to pass an entire day just don't sleep and use the wait option. What do you think?

I can choose exactly how many hours I want to sleep, between 1-24.

No, bad idea. What if we want to take 1 hour naps? Not everybody sleeps 8 hours you know. They can sleep 8-12 is the ideal sleeping time too. Some people haven't slept for days and sleep 24 hours. I don't like this idea.

I think he's asking about making the timescale even higher when you're sleeping, or higher in general, so that time passes more quickly in-game. (?) But I'm not seeing what difference that would make, time doesn't pass at the normal rate when you Sleep or Wait anyway. I can "sleep" for 12 hours and it passes by in a few seconds of real life time and I've got the timescale lowered to 5 so that in-game time passes more slowly overall.

Unless he's wanting the actual days in Skyrim to be shorter, with an 8 hour day and an 8 hour night instead of 12 hours each.

But that still wouldn't make any difference, if you're in Sleep or Wait mode a full 8 hours of sleep would still pass by in a few RL seconds.

If you're just sitting in a chair waiting for time to tick by without actually using the Sleep or Wait functions, then... yeah, you're gonna have to wait until time passes normally, but that's kind of the player's choice. I know you can't Sleep everywhere but Wait is always available unless you're in combat, so there's no reason to sit and twiddle your thumbs while hours of in-game time pass by if your character isn't going to be doing anything in the interim.

No, as he said above ... maybe posting while you were writing your post ... that he is new to the game and it seems wasn't familiar with the sleep slider.

He apparently believed you always had to sleep for 24 hours ... rather than being able to choose any amount of time from 1 to 24.

No worries, I'm pretty sure if I sat and thought about it I've had several derp moments like this also. :D

Yeah, he figured it out while I was posting.

No worries, OP, we won't even discuss how many hours I played before I discovered the Wait function.

Lol, it wasn't until my fourth playthrough that I found the key that lets me move forward at a steady speed without holding down "W" all the time.
