My idea for DLC - Oblivion Planes

Post » Sat Nov 03, 2012 10:47 am

So I was thinking about add-ons for Skyrim (and crying that I'm too poor for Dawnguard until Monday) and began thinking up some DLC ideas I would make if I were Bethesda, or had a half-decent computer to mod on.

My idea would be The Oblivion Planes. Simply, it is a large area of woodland in Skyrim's remote regions (probably along the Northern coast) that has been felled and cleared. When you go there, you discover about twelve different characters, each one representing their deity's plane. They are sat around a large table with a few (unreachable) Daedric artefacts. When you talk to each priest, they will tell you about their Daedra that they worship and then ask -you to go on a quest for each one to activate their portal to a small portion of their plane, for worship.

The Mehrunes Dagon priest will show you to a closed Oblivion Gate, and asks you to acquire a full Black Soul Gem, three Daedra Hearts and an Ebony blade of any kind to open the gate. - The inside would be the same as Oblivion, perhaps with one or two new Daedra. Instead of a Sigil Stone in the Sigil Keep, there will be a high-ranking Dremora on a throne for the player to defeat.

The Sheogorath priest asks you for twenty sweetrolls, a Grand Soul Gem and a Daedra Heart to open up the portal, which would probably be the same as the Shivering Isles portal. (The three faces with a portal in one of the mouths) - The inside would probably be Passwall from the Shivering Isles add-on, with a couple of caves and forts with typical Shivering Isles enemies to hide, such as Grummites, Hunger and Skinned Hounds.

The Hircine priest asks for the remains of the lands mightiest creatures. You are asked for a Bear Pelt, Cave Bear Pelt, Snow Bear Pelt, Sabre Cat Pelt, Snowy Sabre Cat Pelt, Dragon Bones and Dragon Scales. Also a Grand Soul Gem and two Daedra Hearts. - The inside would be large foggy fields with an abundance of life to hunt, such as Bears, Sabres, Deer, maybe a dragon or two and probably (for higher levels only) a werewolf to fight, too.

Those three are just examples, there are sixteen Daedra Princes after all, not that they would all be in this add-on, maybe just five to ten or so.

So what do you all think of my idea? :D

At the end of my post, I say perhaps just five to ten, so maybe seven-ish at the most.

I would rather visit one well crafted realm than seven small ones

Meh, to each their own. I'd like either one, although my idea would probably work best on next-generation games, so just one plane perhapsables, but which plane? That is the question.

Nice to meet you too.

It would be good if the picking a side thing was dictated by the Daedra you favour. Favour Boethiah and you're forced to secretly execute the other priests, pick Meridia and you route some of the more questionable Daedra like Namira or Peryite.

What I think would be quite interesting would be if the quest took place in a splinter of Oblivion - perhaps the Daedra have taken an interest in the Dragonborn as he can save the mortal plane, their source of...er....sustenance, entertainment? It would be an interesting trick-quest.

I'm not too fond of visiting all daedric planes at one time. I don't think beth would implement them right. I think its best just to do one or two and have them fleshed out. Something beth is pretty good at.

A lot of rude and borderline flaming posts have gone away as well as posts replying to the rude posts. Someone needs to read our rules. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/724862-forum-rules-and-general-information/

I apologize for my earlier demeanor. Sincerely.

In line with the thread, I don't believe that even visiting five planes or so would give the Devs time to do the Realms justice in the amount of detail that they would deserve.

I would rather visit one Realm at a time and know I'm getting the best quality possible for my visit rather than have a plethora of realms, but have them being half finished.

That being said, I think either visiting Hermaeus Mora's "Apocrypha" or actually going into Nocturnal's "Ebonmere" would be quite a thrill to visit.

A few of the daedric planes are uninhabitable by humans for even a short time.

I think Vaermina's "Nightmare Realm" (<--- because I forgot the name at the moment...) is one of those uninhabitable Planes, isn't it?

I mean, the one guy went there in an Oblivion Daedric Quest, but he was only there in his dreams. He was trapped there, yes; but he was still there in his dreams which allowed him to survive it.
