Idea for Future DLC - Dragon Bone Weapons

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 5:24 am

I realize this has probably been discussed in depth, but how do you guys feel about the inclusion of dragon bone weapons as part of a future DLC release? For me, the dragon armors were a little underwhelming (they looked too generic and were too bulky), but as someone who thinks that all the daedric stuff is really ugly (I'm just not into that dark gothic high-fantasy look), I wish there was an option for players who wanted really high stat weapons but didn't want the Daedric ones. A sword carved from dragon bones or a dagger carved from a dragon's tooth would be really cool. How could anyone resist somehting like a dragon bone katana? Of course, I'd want them to be more elegant looking, not big jagged monstrosities like the orcish stuff.

Could have some awesome design potential

Like their wings turned into a bow

I have no clue why this was left out. Everything else that you can smith can be made into a weapon, why not dragon bones?

agreed all those strong sharp edged bones are just begging to be turned into scary bone weapons to put forsworn weapons to shame.

I want Dragonbone weapons as well. At least I have something to spend all those [censored] bones and scales on. I have like 150 of each spread over my houses in Skyrim. I'm keeping them there though you never know, they might come in handy someday. And besides who needs the gold anyway.

I can't really think of what they would look like.

probably a lot like forsworn weapons.

I would have liked it if you could have chose from a few designs when crafting rather than just the one they give you. I would love Dragon Bone weapons. I would equally love mixing smith types, for example adding some Dragon Bone to Glass Armor.

For those who may not be aware, they already exist as a mod: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1935 At the moment, they're just reskinned orcish weapons, but it would certainly be possible for someone to make new meshes for them and either submit them to the current modder or release them as an add-on for the existing mod.

what about the armor?

How many Dragonbones do you actually spend on the armor then? Exactly about 13 scales and 6 bones for the Heavy and only 14 scales for the Light armor if I'm correct. So what do you do with the rest? Make a dragon burial site in Hjerim? Lol, if i'd crafted both of the sets I still have over a 100 of each left.

That would actually be a nice DLC! Just a simple two dollar one that can come as a bundle pack with one of the expansions or sold separately at the same time the expansion is released. But just having Dragon Bone weapons is kind of a rip-off so I'll go with this:

It overhauls the smithing function to make it more balanced and it also adds more options like dragon bone weapons, Chitin weapons, and the ability to make the raw faction armors once you're a member of that faction (Unenchanted Dark Brotherhood armor basically so you can enchant it to your own accord).

OP is a great idea, i myself was just thinking a similar thought...dragonplate armor, dragonscale armor, yet no dragon-material weapons...why?

it should be done

I imagine that they would look something like the crysknife from the Dune series ( for those that know of it). They could actually be pretty refined looking, not just bones with leather wrapped around the end. The blade can be bone, but carved like wood or stone, while the hilt would be a combination of bone and metal, like the Jagged Crown. Or who knows, maybe instead of bones you could forge several scales together. Dragon scales are supposed to be harder than steel anyway.

I was rather dissapointed when I found out that there we're no dragon weapons, especially since there are dragonbone and dragonscale shields. Also I agree with the statement that says that dragon Armour was very underwhelming. For being the last Armour that you unlock, the one that requires you to have smithing at level 100. It doesn't look that cool, and it's not as good as daedric. I was very dissapointed. Epic facepalm.
