Idea for a new beast race

Post » Fri Jul 13, 2012 8:03 am

We only have 2 beast race: Kahjiit and Argonians.
A feline and a reptile. I was thinking a beast race that resemble a BEAR.

Skill bonus:
Two-handed: +5
Parry: +5
Archery: +5
Destruction: +5
Restoration: +5
Heavy armor: +10

Special abilities:
Bear skin: Damage reduction 10%

Power class:
Bear transformation: Transform in a wild bear for 60 seconds once a day.

Hope you like it!

P.s I am not english, so sorry in advance for any mistake!

There are no werebears in dawnguard and another speices of khajjit would be more lore friendly.(there are several in fact)

I'm not sure if they even have them in it anyway, done a search on UESP and nothing came up.

Werebears? I've beaten Dawnguard siding with both sides and I've yet to see this fantastical beast.

Well, nice idea in itself, but there's no way it could fit in the lore.
Let's keep the beast ideas as lycan forms.

Ahh, the power of a successful troll.
Nope, no werebears in Dawnguard. The person who said that was trolling, and succeded.

As for the op, I kinda like the idea up until a transformation. That just seems like something that is just far too unique or special for a race to have.
But if we are going to get any more races in future games I personally think it would be some kind of elf. There are several in lore we haven't seen in games yet. And I think a bear race isn't even in the lore.

Edit: Just checked UESP, no bear races, but there is an http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Imga. Ape people would be kind of interesting.

Absolutely not! This is not World of Warcraft where new races can be added on a whim. The Elder Scrolls is serious fantasy with a well-established lore. Bringing in a new race that haven't even been mentioned before would do more harm than good. However, there is a now-extinct beast race that lived in High Rock before the Elves. That, I think, is the closest you're going to get to your wish.

As for new races, there are only a few choices. The most likely are the Maormer (Sea Elves), who live on a continent south of Tamriel. There's also the ape-like Imga, the Falmer, the Wild Elves and the Sloads.

No not trolling, just something I was almost certain I seen something about on UESP. Thought it was in Dawnguard but obviously it was just mentioning something about the lore.

Read "mixed unit tactics" or the "akaviri(sp?)" it tells you about bestial races and combat tactics also the tiger dragon(king?).

I didn't mean you trolling. Someone on the forums before Dawnguard came out said the leaders of the Dawnguard were werebears. The person was obviously not telling the truth and trolled alot of people.
Probably where the info on UESP you mentioned came from, I wouldn't be surprised.
Sorry for the mixup. I didn't mean you. Werebears are in lore, and should be common in Skyrim, but are obviously not in game.

I'd say go with the Imga, or the asian influenced Akaviri. Both would add something interesting and different to the Elder Scrolls.

Must be the Ayelids (I just can't remember the spelling at all), which I'm sure are exctinct.

I would like an akaviri invasion to happen especially since skyrim is in turmoil and is a coastal continent. if not the akaviri then maybe the tiger dragon and his army(s)?

I think the Elder Scrolls are a bit too far to start adding in new races. Perhaps they should focus on the races they already have. Imga, Sload and all the Akaviri. I was really hoping Dawnguard would make Snow Elves playable.

We could have new races from existing creatures though. For example goblins could become a race. Through the usual ES way of divine intervention altering their intelligence.

Suppose they're a bit too similar to Orcs though.

Well They could add a few cave filled with ancient lost books that explain the story and the background of the Bearman.
