Idea: new playstyle

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 3:01 pm

I have been trying this new playstyle for a while (10-15 hours) and it has been quite fun. It really forces you to use stuff you never used, like scrolls, wabbajack and so on.

The idea is simple really. Master difficulty and never enter the skill screen, in other words, remain at level one, 100 at three stats and no perks.

"How fun can that be? You don't have perks!". Some of you might be questioning that right now, along with my sanity. The thing is, it tests you to the limits, and teaches you to actually use 100% of what the game provides to get you pass some enemies. And for once, running is actually sometimes a good idea.

Some tips:
1. Do not trigger dragons. They can be quite impossible for a level 1 without decent magic resist.
2. Get wabbajack. It can be a game changer in boss fights because it can hit hard when things go your way.
3. Save all your scrolls. You will need them in boss fights. I completed the fight inside Azura's Star using a blizzard scroll.
4. Get the summon Flame Atronach ASAP.
5. High elf is a good race, because their passive imcreases your magicka pool by 50%.
6. Plan your battle, you should know exactly who you are fighting at the end of a dungeon and have the scrolls to counter the boss.
7. Join the mage guild. You need access to summon frost or storm Atronach staves. Black star will keep it topped up.
8. You goal is to work towards summoning demora lords. Due to your level, a demora lord will wipe any leveled enemy in seconds. But it is very costly, 350 magicka. Therefore you will need lots of conjuration reduction.
9. Archmage rodes are godly.
10. Fiery soul trap is very nice to have.
11. Werewolf works now. Because most enemies are leveled, you will be fighting level 1 to 6 bandits most of the time. A level 1 werewolf with 100 in one-handed and light armor eats bandits so hard their mom in Orsinium gets a love bite.
12. Arniel's Shade is beast.
13. Trolls are beast, they OHKO you.

This is interesting but you really can come up with no appropriate back-story, and have to use everything. Thanks, but no thanks.
Also, you will always have weak enemies.

Well, it wouldn't be fun for me personally, but my hat's off to you for going there!

Meh, sounds like punishment. I'd rather continue being a god.

You can always come up with back stories even if it is a stupid one:
1. YOU are svck into Skyrim. A normal person is going to learn how to do things better, but training isn't going to increase your health (by much) nor do miracles (perks).
2. You are a savant, capable of learning even the most difficult spells or sword play, but you are not creative and can never come up with your own techniques (perks).
3. You are destined to be a farmer/merchant NPC hoping to marry your childhood sweetheart. None of that dragon/shouting heroics business for you, you are just a normal person able to do a little of everything, but with no great mastery. (perks)

Falmars (min 9 level), trolls, giants (20+ level), Dragon priest (50 level) and many other non-scaled enemies will eat your face.

Meh, sounds like punishment. I'd rather continue being a god.

The thing is, I have already have a "legal god" (ie no restoration glitch, no mods) which can take on a 50 Death Overlords. So I'm trying the other end of the power spectrum.

I mainly throw out this idea for people who have being crying for a balancing to the trade skills. I agree that this mode is quite extreme and there are some cases I have to take really creative appoaches to normally easy tasks, but that's the fun part.

Depends. I wouldn't want to be a god over a nuthouse full of giggling loonies. Haha.

I'd say no because there's a good bit of quests that you have to be at a certain level to start.

Not for me, but to each his own. This is a game to be who you want to be and play however you please. I would be interested to know how this style works for you. Good luck and enjoy the game.

You're locking yourself out of quests which have level requirements, though, including most daedric quests. It might be an interesting playstyle, but I'd hate not being able to access a lot of the more interesting concent because of it.

Still no converts? I await the next "new" 1 level play style revelation post.

Try this playstyle.

I wanted to try playing as a real life person so i created an alexander III of macedonia char...

He uses iron and steel weapons, leathed, iron and studded armors, no magic, no potions.

Skills: One Handed, Heavy/Light armor depending on your preference, Archery, Speech, Block

You can only heal naturaly or with food. You cannot use any skills that deal with fantasy. eg. magic, potions (i know madicine can be considered a potion and was in that time period but skyrim potions ar not remotly the same) the only potion you can use is cure diseas.

This is harder for me on master because it adds an unmatchabe realism to the game.

you can still use poisons, just use common sense, ask yourself. Can you get this today? Could you get it back then? Is this realistic or not?

now the gameplay will not be compleatly realistic (alex never had to fight a giant or dragons) but it makes me feel like a badass.

You have. That is because I have linked it when
1. Some one asks for a new playstyle
2. Some guy is bored because his character is invincible.

Everytime someone makes a thread to talk about getting more difficulty levels into skyrim like it's diablo 3, I direct them to this. And when some replys to this, it gets bumped up. It's the same exact post you are seeing.

Also an update, I have since completed the major quest lines (4 guilds, MQ and War) and most of the minor quests except the few I
am level locked out of. My actual character level, should I choose to level her, is around 65.
