Ideas on how to let console players make unique armors and w

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 1:33 am

So i have posted the ideas of several polls and lots of people support this brain storming idea now question to all you what things can you think of to make this possiable.

I personally think for the armor letting you add emblems and small things to each type of armor would be a good way to personalize armor and that would make it realistic and still cool.

As for the weapons that would be a little harder only thing i can think of for console players is add things like being able to shape blades give like 10 different shapes to choose from then add cresents only idea i can think of let's see what you guys have in your heads

Nice idea but I can't really see it happening. I'm afraid until MS and Sony give the go-ahead then custom weapons will be a PC only thing.

Games that let you do things like that are already common on consoles. You're not modding; you're just selecting different options that exist in the game. I don't really see the appeal of such a feature for something like Skyrim. Just have all the possible combinatinos exist somewhere in the game so the player can find them. This isn't The Sims; the game should encourage exploration and questing.

how about being able to dye the existing armor different colors, like fable? or having bottoms and tops separate so u can mix and match.

except that would mean bethesda would have to change the engine and no expansions they release do that, the shivering isles did it slightly by adding 2 world variables

Yes, it is modding.

Modding is not a simple thing. If you got it for the console because it's easy to set up, then modding is not for you. There is so much fine-tuning to do; the more mods you have, the more potential sources for problems there are.

What if Bethesda were to watch the modding community and take 10~20 of the highest rated mods - sans nvde mods - and release them as a DLC bundle. Mods that add more quests, NPCs, items, locations would be fine with most console players, I'd assume. Mods that don't push the consoles past their limits.

Not exactly inferior, just lower grade technology being mass produced.. Yes & no for short.

On topic.

it would be nice, but seeing as how M.S. & Song are basically greedy rightist pigs, not going to happen more than likely.

P.S.

They are not pigs, they are pigs in bear suits who just so happen to be rightist.

I've seen people texture mod console games before, like Resident Evil 5 / Soul Calibur / even Final Fantasy 12.
Search around google and you'll see alot of those mods floating around, so I sure it's possible that Skyrim can get a texture mod as well.

No one said you wouldn't. I would use those on the PS3 if I could, but it is just something that Bethesda would not be able to get past MS/Sony.

Maybe Next Gens will have the power of PCs just being on clunky controllers. Not too sure...

See this is why i get annoyed at PC people who think they are king. Me personally i have owned a xbox 360 for awhile now and i bought skyrim for the xbox because i don't own a PC that could run the game as smoothly as a xbox 360. With that being said i plan on buying a $3,000 laptop when i graduate boot camp but for the mean time i am just exploring. No i am not familiar with mods i have already posted that before that doesn't mean that someone can't wish they were available on xbox and they could implement small things into the game like having a set amount of things you could add to armor if they really wanted to.

The only way this can happen is to use some kind of hack for the console (which I don't even know if such a thing exists). It's NEVER going to be a reality, not even with the nextgen consoles, because MS and Sony can't make money off it.

Actually the real reason is quite simple: Consoles currently are very resource limited (especially RAM wise).. Both current gen have 512MB total ram (video + system). What this means is that devs cram everything the can in there and leave very little unused.. Try to add fan made stuff on there that hasnt been optimised to work with everything else at once, and you have a disaster waiting to happen.

Example: Save game bloat currently causing slowdowns on PS3. What if you add 6-7 mods that save extra stuff in there ? Not pretty

Bethesda could (probably) implement an in-game menu to write a TGA or DDS (as an automatically generated Normal map).

The way it could work (conceptually) would be to work in tandem with something like "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ie02k3eAvxY", or the http://www.theverge.com/2011/11/14/2561122/udraw-gametablet-xbox-360-ps3; these would allow user artwork to be generated on the console, and they would then handle importing it as a custom resource [from the in-game menu] for use on forged armor.

The feature could be a console exclusive DLC.

*(Where's my consulant fee) :deal:

Mass Effect 2 did this with decent variety. To a much lesser extent, so did Symphony of the Night (all the way back in the PSOne days) with "Joseph's Cloak" (or a similar name that I can't recall).
