Ideas on new abilities for the game and discussion on what t

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 6:30 pm

Hi everyone just want to hear your ideas on new abilities for the game and your views on the discussion about the max leveling.

I think what would be cool is if you had more choice with grenades in all classes such as EMP's, Molotov's or even a grenade like a concussion grenade that slows players down. As well as this players should not only place turrets as an engineer class you should be able to place radars that would show all the enemy's on a map within a small distance.

When it comes to max leveling i think you should be able to continue to level 25 so you can get more of the high level perks and then when you get their you should be able to prestige therefore getting new skins for guns or new equipment or weapons but you would go back to level one again and loose all your abilities like in Call of Duty.

Anyway post what you think would love to hear from the Brink community.

Stay strong everyone.

Fair warning: the highlighted text be dangerous in these parts.

Anyways, granting choice to pick and choose Abilities from a general pool, be those grenades or otherwise, defeats the purpose of classes, me thinks. Let alone the fact that the Soldier is basically constructed around explosives: giving molotovs and such to other builds completely negates his use.

The idea of prestige-ing has been tossed around a bit by those who felt a little disappointed by the rapid leveling in the game, but overall I don't think it matters. If you want to level up once more just make a new character, it's quite entertaining. Also, the free dlc coming up raises the cap to 25, so joy abounds!

There's frag grenades, Molotovs, Sticky grenades, Grenade Launchers, Noobless-Noobtubes, Flashbangs, EMP grenades, Lazarus Grenades and I've probably forgotten one.

Every class has Frags and Noobless Tubes. You can then pick special grenades for individual classes. If all classes could multitask, then what would be the point of classes?

Not a bad idea. Reminds me of that motion sensor thing from CoD though, and we don't want to be too derivative.

I don't like the idea of "Prestige" mode. But that just might be me. I prefer to keep my classes and custom skins.

Splammage could make a special Archetype skin that gets unlocked for players who have a character at the level cap? Then you can create a whole new character with the cosmetic reward.

I've got a great idea!

How about, instead of a straight ripoff of CoD's Prestige system, you get to create multiple characters, and level them up separately, so you get to level 20 (24 after the DLC), then move on to a new character. That way, you get the experience of leveling up right from the beginning, but you ALSO get to keep your already-max-level character when you want to go back to it!

Oh wait... <_<

Yeah, I think they got you covered on that point.

Personally, I wish the new abilities were coming WITHOUT an increase to the level cap. And if future DLC gives us more abilities, I hope they come without a level cap increase. Diversity is better than high-level characters with everything. At the current state of the game, you have to be very picky about which abilities you buy for your character, unless you're being a straight single-class focus. Adding 5 new abilities, and 4 more levels, is a great way to compromise that. A few more abilities while remaining at level 24 max would balance it out so there's more variety in player builds.

Think the new DLC rank cap to 24 is a little low...Most of u prob got to 20 in a few days so 4 more nt gunna last long unless they are incredibly lng

Yea but honestly how many times do u want to build up the same character. I have already built three to level 20 and it gets boring but true with the new DLC their should be a major improvement.

With more and more skill points every character becomes more likely to be the same character. Why not build up entirely different characters instead?

I seriously think that Prestige mode in a game like this is a bad idea, has anyone actually considered that the level cap is low to begin with so that it can be increased with the DLC in future, which is the case with the new DLC next month. I personally don't want to work my way to Level 20, Rank 5 to immediatly have the prestige option within a day. I prefer the idea of multiple characters, also serves as a custom class idea for when playing with friends so you can be the better medic or operative

Agree! And also the best abilities should only be available if you have sufficient points in the class, so an allround would have a sure disadvantage

SD has long said that they kept the level cap low for a reason: FUN. They want you to have access to all the abilities quickly so you don't have to drain days of your life to get a certain gun or abilities.

Use another of your 10 character slots maybe?

Quoted for Truth. I believe 25 levels would mean Rank 6? Heard that somewhere. But, I like how it is currently. I hope they stop at 24 rather than water-down the Classes and game.

I would answer you myself, but...

Why not build up entirely different characters instead?

...It's been done.
