Ideas on a new skill?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:51 am

I was reading a topic on fishing and somebody posted an idea about a hunting type skill where you could fish and/or trap animals with snares and possibly do other things. I thought this would be a GREAT idea. One it would add some more RP fun to the game seeing as you could actually be a hunter rather than just shooting animals with a bow and two it could be a nice time sinker for those wanting to do other things than just waste time smithing, mixing potions, enchanting, or Quests (Or for the EXTREMELY patient people, decorating a home :ermm:). Just want to hear some of your ideas and I don't take credit for this at all. Again, it was posted in a topic on fishing in the game. I think it could make for a dandy thing in a future DLC.

They won't add a new skill but I think they could add traps to the smithing skill. That'd be pretty neat and they wouldn't need another skill.

Shout skill.
Perks to decrease recharge speed, increase damage, effectiveness, duration, power, etc.
Increase by using shouts.
Really, shouts are not as......strong. So adding a tree would power them up........unless you use that infinite shout glitch.......

Woodchopping skill.......yeah.
Perks to decrease chop time, increase quality thus increasing value, get more wood from chopping, increase woodcutter axe damage, other stuff I can't think of, etc.
Increase by chopping more.

- Fake Bear, use Bear hide to make a decoy, attract nearby enemy for X sec
- Poisoned Trap, you can apply poison to your trap before deploy
- Sleeping Gas Trap, make enemy sleepy immediately
- Trap Recycle, Used trap can be pick up and reuse
- Cat Mewl, Decrease alerted enemy caution level
and more...

This should under Stealth skill list

I've been asking for a trap-making profession for ages. Other than the obvious combat traps such as bear and oil traps, you could have utility stuff like a fish net which you deploy in a body of water and return to later to collect any fish that strayed too close. Useful for alchemists that rely on fish for their pots / poisons.

I've also been asking for a survival skill, which includes stuff like tracking (you spot nearby enemies and gain combat bonuses against them for a short while) and the ability to make a campfire to speed up regeneration,

I did enough Woodcutting on RuneScape! Leave skills like that to RuneScape!

Actually, at the rate Beth's been goin, they'll cut skills off at the knees again and we'll be down to 15 or so.

Just kidding :) (hopefully)

Yea. I hope not. The more skills the better. In my opinion anyways.

It would be nice if we could have about 30 skills instead of 18.

I do like the attributes and birthsigns. However, if they re implement the class picking system I think that they should re-vamp it.

Completely depends on what spear....Pikes are 9 feet, def 2 hand, but a trident might only be four feet, one handed easy. Javelin? Glaive? Halberd? List goes on, all at varying length.

That's an awesome idea. Fletching. Then you could have perks to make arrows you make do more damage or fly faster. Hadn't thought of that

Skills in all TES games since Morrowind have to be a multiplication of 3 (for combat/magic/stealth). they will never add just 1 skill, and it's extremely unlikely they would just add 3 skills to the game..it never happened before even in large expansions like SI to add skills unfortunately

I would have loved Unarmed for combat, Acrobatics/Athletics for stealth, and Mysticism with Spellmaking for magic..those IMO would have made character builds so much more varied and entertaining

Cooking skill perhaps?
Perks would be something like.........more recipes, foods have upgraded effects, use more ingredients and a variety of ingredients to cook, make your food worth more.
I want to make Sweetrolls. And this skill could add a new role to play, as a chef, or baker, or cooker, or something.

Sitting skill. That's right.
There's really no point in sitting in Skryim unless you're roleplaying, want to waste time, or want to stare at the sky. So a skill would be..........interesting.
Perks would be regain health, stamina and magicka when sitting, you can sit on the ground, but gain h/s/m slower, generate gold when sitting, (that would be kind of broken depending on how much gold you get and the rate at which you get it) can fight when sitting, your speech skill is increased when sitting and you gain a price bonus at shops, and I can't think of anymore.
Increase this skill by -what else?- sitting!
BTW, the Sitting skill was a joke if you haven't noticed by now.

Halberds are always 2 hand cause that is the point! A Halberd is suppose to be a tall/long weapon with an axe head at the end. They are made to long-range-melee. The others are 1 hand or 2 hand.

Spears can be held in one hand with a spear/shield combo.

If horseback combat is ever introduced then how about a riding skill. Perks could include extra horse stamina/health/courage, reduced horse cost & faster mount/dismount..
