Imperial Business Move Along!

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 10:04 pm

I cannot believe(actually I can), that I have reached the rank of Legate in The Empire and random troops are still saying to me, "Imperial Business move along..." At least with the thieves guild the NPC's would make reference and Delvin Mallory calls you boss and has a lot more respect for you in his tone than before. I enjoy the game and have fun doing the missions, but really? Thank god this is not our military, you would be put before firing squad for speaking to a major or corporal like that.

So, in the future, I would like to see some kind of accuracy of dialogue especially with a quest line such as fighting for the empire. It makes no sense, but I just put another check by it as something to ignore while I play the game. Something like that takes me out of the game if I pay atention to it, so I have to ignore and figure every soldier I run into just doesn't know...

Not trying to complain too much, but it is attention to little details like that which make a game more satisfying. for example, in Mass Effect, how peeved would the community of that game be if NPC's never acknowledged that Shepherd became Commander Shepherd when he or she took over the Normandy in part 1.

I just think that is a little ridiculous...They should address me by my title, Legate...after all what is the purpose of gaining a title if everyone around you does not use it or respect. Like if the Housecarls did not acknowledge that you were Thane...Annoying...

Well think of how big the Imperial Military is...what're the chances that everyone involved in it knows your face? :P

I'm not sure if this is a glitch or not, but I do recall seeing a mod that makes it so members of the Legion will address you by your proper title.

When you become Arch Mage, the Jarl of Whiterun still complains to you about the college, like you are just a normal traveler. I'm like Hey, watch what you say about MY college! LOL

But hey, what do you expect from Imperials? psh =p

The other Legates will call you Legate, but indeed its the same disprespect from the masses that you get in any faction when you're at the top.
Hell, my guy wears Tullius' armor... you'd think that would clue them in a bit.

I guess, but thew odd thing is that Legate Rikke is always there, you would figure she would make sure the lower ranks would show the proper respect to the new Legate. It make me think of the tv show Spartacus. If someone addressed Gallus Claudius Glabar that way, death would certainly be his or her's. Maybe in the future, this will be something they address. Like I said, not that I am unhappy with the game, but having to ignore stuff like that just takes away from immersion in the game and can pull you right out of the game.

Just annoying all of the little things that were overlooked in the game.

Back in the day when I was in the army (relates to my name here), if a private would have been as annoying as the emperial troops are, there would have been several unscheduled fitness exercises for them. Then again I haven't worn an emperial uniform since my escape from Helgen so I might have to forgive them.

It works in forts and various legates around the capital of holds, but the city guard won't reconise you. They don't even recognise you're thane. It's time for them to recognise damn it.

You can murder someone for free if you become Thane.

The only time I've heard a character say that sentence to me, they were actually bandits standing over the corpses of the real Imperial soldiers whose armour they'd just looted. The leader was an orc and he stumbled over his words.

Hmm, I will have to pay more attention next time and maybe kill them as well if that is the case...

That is something I would like to see added to the game in future patches where they actually recognise your Rank as you move...Maybe I want to much, but I feel it adds to the immersion into the game. Above all other things, I can't stand being taken out of my game mentally due to some(insert most colorful prfanity combination here) like that...When I am in the game, I wanna stay in the game...
