Imperial Courier

Hey all

I have joined the legion, and been assigned the first mission as a legionnaire. Afterwhich i swiflty went AWOL and now on the other side of the country. On visiting the shrine of Azura i spotted a legion soldier running towards me, as soon as he got close he turned around and ran off. No dioluge, no message, no item received. Chasing after him i wasnt able to talk to him and he then got killed by a wild animal. On looting his body there was also nothing uniquie or intresting on him.

So ... any ideas?

I've played through the Imperial questline and haven't seen anything like that. Was he just called Imperial Soldier or was he titled Imperial Courier? Might have just been a wandering soldier, they patrol roads sometimes and attack wild beast, bandits, dragons, or anything else that's hostile.

I saw one, too.
Titled Imperial Courier, he suprised me when waking up in the flagged mare. He started a conversation with nothing to say and left the moment this empty conversation ended.

Yep he was entitled 'Imperial Courier'. I was off the beaten track, and am in the midst of Stormcloak country. First he ran up the steps of the shrine to close by me then turned away. When he got killed i reloaded and moved to the bottom of the steps, at which point he got close and ran off. A third time i met him away from the shrine at which point he got close to me and ran off.

Up by winterhold i have not met any other Imperial soldiers, although i have seen a few in groups dottered about more along the frontline than in the middle of Stormcloak territory.

I think you're right about that, I can't think of anything else it could be. That's kinda cool that he exists in the world even before the quest begins, but I'd guess there must be multiple couriers just in case they don't make it.

Not sure this is about the same Imperial courier:

Spoiler
I joined the Stormcloaks and one of the missions during the campaign against the Empire is to find an Imperial Courier who runs between Dragonbridge and Rorickstead. I had to find the guy, kill him and get some plans he had in his possesion back to the Stormcloaks. The quest seemed to give me the choice to look for him or to wait in on of the two inns he frequently stops at. So maybe you saw such a courier. Or maybe they are just random non-hostlie NPCs, like hunters or something similar.
