Imperial Legates (Camp officers) are unkillable and wrongful

Post » Sun Jun 24, 2012 1:26 am

This is something that has not yet been resolved after the latest patch (the 1.6 versions).

I'm not playing Skyrim on the PC, so a fix to this issue in future patch releases would be appreciated.

As probably most of the 'Stormcloakers' out there know, after you've finished the battle for Solitude, the Imperials are far from wiped out. Still, the Stormcloak questline is completed.
Galmor and Ulfric will of course encourage you to kill off any Imperials you'd come across in your furher travels, including Imperial Camps (when you ask them "Is there anything more I can do for the cause?")

So, as the topic title says, my main issue is:

Imperial Legates (Camp officers) are unkillable and wrongfully count as murder.

This is clearly a bug that needs to be resolved.

I hope this is brought to Bethesda's attention.

The camp officers for the stormcloaks are also unkillable. It may not be a bug, Bethesda might intend to do something with them.

So are Stormcloaks camp commander actually, and yeah it makes no sense to make them essential as Tulius/Ulfric ask youto wipes the camps.

Figured that would be the case.

However, it should not count as murder either way.

Edit: Should you decide to "kill" them more than once, there won't be any additional 'murders' on record because of that.

You don't even need a mod console codes can take care of the problem.

They were actually intenting to put some sidequests in the Civil War Questline, that had you wipe out the Imperial/Stormcloak camps. Seems the game was rushed and they didn't make it, but I hope they'll add them with a patch

@iZsoul:

Yes, I know.

But mods on PC are irrelevant to us console players, thus don't need to be mentioned.

This is something that needs to be patched.

This shouldn't turn out to be another PS3/360 VS PC thread.

So, back to the issue at hand.

If they were still planning to re-introduce the axed content that got them set as essential, it wouldn't make any sense to tell you to go and wipe out the whole camp. It's would be a very simple task to remove their essential status which console players can't remove for themselves. It's pretty poor they haven't seen fit to rectify this oversight in six patches.

Really? You don't have the vanilla game?

I can appreciate that you're a PC elitist, but honestly there's more than enough places to discuss mods. Does it have to be brought into every thread too? Especially when Sonyall even says he's on a console?

Sure I wish I had it on PC, but what you're doing here (and elsewhere) just seems obnoxious to me. It's kinda like jumping rope in front of a dude with no feet, when he asks you about a good way to lose weight. Through dieting.

There are many essential character that doesn't need to be one in my opinion I can understand those that have quest to give but the one like Rolf? there is only one quest that involve Rolf and that is to brawl with him, I think I can cope with missing one brawl in favor of killing him.

Sonyall, you should post this issue in Xbox forum on here. Bethesda read those topics. Anything in General Discussion tends to get buried.

HOW DARE HE!!!

ARREST HIM!!! BURN HIM!!! BEHEAD HIM!!!!

In the meantime, sneak attack the camps so that you don't get seen committing murder.

This is nonsense.
Its an oversight, a leftover from when the Civil War was much more in-depth and varied, before a lot was cut to make the deadline.
The legates and Stormcloak officers were supposed to give out quests.
After that was removed, someone forgot to remove the essential flag.

If they were needed for a DLC it would be much, much easier to either have the DLC flag them as essential or spawn new ones.

That's one of my main gripes with Skyrim, gameplay-wise. Fallout New Vegas, for all its faults, managed to not have a single essential NPC (save some securitrons and children, eh...). You could literally walk up to say, Caesar, and blow his brains out, if you didn't care for his particular questline. The rest continued just fine. Why, oh why, can I not do that to Maven Black-Briar? And essential COs are just ridiculous, what is even the point of that once the CW is over? Immersion breakage like woah.
