Importing a job from Oblivion , Opinions ?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 8:57 pm

Hello everybody !
So lately I was playing Oblivion , and saw the class 'Agent'.
I was interested with it and began playing it.
Now here's the build:

Specialization:
Stealth

Attributes:
Personality
Agility

Major Skills:
Security ( Lockpicking )
Sneak
Acrobatics ( None in Skyrim )
Marksman ( Archery )
Illusion
Mercantile
Speechcraft ( I think both of these are merged in Skyrim )

Now looking at this build , Attributes are going down , how well do you think this class will work out in Skyrim and which perks should I add to it ?

Discuss. :)

looks pretty good. although speech perks are almost pointlesss in skyrim since you hardly have any situations where you neeed to use the speech elements.

The only good speech perks are the ones that save you Gold (if you're like me and not good with earning it, then take it up!)

Since Attributes have been deleted and skills have been consolidated, you are looking at the following skills in Skyrim:

Archery
Sneak
Illusion
Lockpicking
Speech
Pickpocket (since that was a "sneak" skill in Oblivion)

The first three make a powerful combination. I would take all the Illusion perks for starters. Without them you will reach a point where the enemies out-level your illusion spells. I would also take the right side of the Speech tree for roleplaying purposes.

Then take as much archery and sneak perks as you feel you need to make the character viable in combat situations. This varies greatly among players depending on your twitch skills, how strategic/tactical you like to get during combat, and whether you want combat to feel easy or hard. You could easily take all illusion perks, four speech perks (right side of the tree) and all sneak and archery perks and call it a day, but that might be too OP for some folks.

I would not bother with any of the lockpicking perks because they don't seem to add that much either from a roleplay or a gameplay perspective.

EDIT: I added Pickpocket to the list, since that was governed by your sneak skill in Oblivion. Some of the pickpocket perks look fun and anyone can make good use of some extra pockets.

i am doing something similar but I'm adamantly refusing to put perks in combat skills. I want this character to be severly underpowered in melee combat. So I have a female bosmer, light armor with a bow. But I am only spending perks in non-combat skills. Mainly sneak and alchemy so far.

I am distributing level bonus like 0:1:9 (magick:health:stamina) to keep her weak.

I am favoring alchemy instead of illusion, because she is so weak I need the strong buffs and poisons.

Don't listen to anyone who says: 'This Skill is pretty useless because....' The whole idea is to use skills that are important to your rp, whether all of them being useful or not. An Agent would use speech to intimidate, persuade, etc, whenever oppurtunity arises. Theyre also good in self defense. Speech, Sneak, One Handed , Block, illusion and archery would be a good combo of both. The Oblivion and Morrowind Agent

This is an extremely powerful combination of skills, I'm going to consider looking at the classes from oblivion and morrowind and basing a character off them! Anyway, back to the topic, this class should work well, considering Illusion has invisibility spells that will aid your sneak skill

After reading through this topic I was thinking it would be cool if in the middle of a battle you could sheath your weapon and if your speach skill was high enough it would initiate a conversation with your enemy to try and talk your way out of a battle. Might at least make a good mod.

You could do that in Morrowind if your speech/personality were high enough (or with bribes) but you had to first hit the NPC with a calm spell in order to initiate conversation.
