Is it impossible to find some good robes in Skyrim?

And no, none of that "Novice/etc. Robes of ____" bullcrap, I'm talking just plain ol' robes. Green robes, to be specific. I have ransacked every house in Whiterun, Riften, Winterhold, and Windhelm so far, and even checked that shop in Solitude.

All that seems to exist is different variations of shoes, boots, clothes, a million pairs of Fine Clothes, hats, and the occasional blue robe. I am at a loss, no other shop sells clothing and no one owns anything other than the above listed. Do people even own robes?

i also am looking for the coloured variants: red, green, brown and grey.

If you are on PC, there are oodles of mods that add all kinds of different robes to the game. For example, the girl I'm running around with now is wearing modded Nocturnal Robes that are sleeveless and hoodless, and dyed a dark blue with patterns of stars in the cloth. Just that one mod I downloaded added 35 different color variations, with hooded and sleeved versions as well.

If you are on a console, I have only condolences to give you, as there are just the Mage-style Novice, Apprentice, etc., Blue and Black variations, Vaermina (purple-ish), and the brown monk robes to choose from. I'm pretty sure there aren't green robes in the unmodded vanilla game. :(

You could try wearing Emperor Robes.

IF you can get some bard's clothing, it's actually an unenchanted version of the expert robes. They look rather nice if you ask me

I have a mage-robe that gives me 75% quicker magica-recharge, been using it from level5 on (to my current lvl21).

College Robes from Radiant Raiment are identical to the green mage robes but are blank, allowing them to be enchanted.

they are the expert type robes. what i found annoying is the way novice, apprentice and adept robes are a perfect match and look awesome with the respective hoods, but the better enchanted expert and master robes don't even have respective hoods and look like crap if worn with the other ones. but the archmage one is kinda nice, especially because you can equip a circlet with it

There is a normal green cowel that goes well with the college robes. Its only really the master robes that dont have anything to go with it other than a circlet.

I have the same problem.
Not once in my 190 hours of gameplay have I found "brown robes" or "grey robes" or "green robes" or "red robes" which are all obtainable via console. I have checked every dresser I came across, and checked Radiant Raiment multiple times. All I ever see are the usual "black robes", "blue robes", "monk robes", "college robes" and enchanted robes for different magic schools. Where is the bloody variety for mages?

I also hate how amulets awkwardly clip through all 3 plain robes that can be found in game, but not those brown, grey, green, or red robes that can be added with a console.

And with all the linen wraps that can be found around the game, it's a shame you can't craft robes... :(
