increasing the render distance?

hey guys,

i remember last week when i was on skyrim (ps3) i was looking at the swamps from solitude and i noticed how ugly and jagged the swamp lanscape looked, it was a really un-attractive site. the same goes for looking at the windmills outside of whiterun from a distance away.

i was wandering this:
on PC could you extend the render distance to improve the overall quality of landscapes in the distance such as the swamps?

its hard to explain but i hope someone can understand what im trying to point out

thats all i wanted to know

thanks!

If you want the game to be a slide show, you can increase the Render Distance.

Remember, if you see it, the game has to run a script on it. Sure, not the rocks and stuff, but grass moving, any animals or NPCs that would be in the now rendered area, etc etc. Small adjustments in View Distance can have a dramatic impact on the games performance. The load is not visual, but CPU in this case.

So, if you want an increase in view distance, then you need to get a PC that has more CPU/GPU power than the PS3, a lot more if you really want to extend it out. Ironically, there are LOD mods for the PC that allow you to leave the render distance alone and still have decent distant graphics.

thanks for the response! i will be sure to look for this mod when i get the PC at the end of the month! i really can't wait for this, its great news for me!

dont worry though, i dont want the render distance to be that grass has to show up miles away, i mead like little basic features at a medium distance should show up further away for example:
the swamps from a distance away looks like plain flat naked land, maybe putting up some tree sprites and adding minimal features could overall improve the immersion? i dont want major detail in distance :)

but thanks again for the reassurance
