So I've read that you can gain a NPC's home through inheritance.

The way the inheritance system works is whomever the Dragonborn has done quests for.. once they have died, they leave them gold in their will. A courier brings a note, of the Jarl of whichever that NPC lived closest to informing the Dragonborn with the gold accompanying it.

So, my question is.. Does anyone know which NPC's homes you can get?

I took a liking to Froki's little shack over in the bottom right corner near Riften.
But he had his grandson Hamming ( Which if some people didn't realize is the little boy that Hadvir saves in Helgen ) is still there and of course without mods he can not be killed.

So is it because the boy still lives there and by default is his home? Or are just certain homes not allowed to be owned?

And if someone knows of a list online somewhere, could you please post it?

I am interested in this as well as I am always looking for new places to live.

I'd like someone to clarify this for usss..
