Installation error : V

Hi, I need some major help here. I just bought Skyrim, tried to install & get a Windows installer error: The configuration data for this product is corrupt. Contact your support personnel.

Why am I receiving this error on a brand new out of the box game? Please tell me there's a fix for this & I didn't just throw $60 out the window.

You answered your own question: a bad disc.

Contact support and get a new disc.

This is actually the 2nd disk. Is my luck really that bad?

Sounds like it. Or you could have a bad disc drive.

I tried to DL Steam & install that way....for some FUBAR reason, I can't install Steam. *GRRRR*

Please post your computer specs. Have you installed Steam before? Have you uninstalled/upgraded Steam? What does it say when "you cant install Steam"?

Installation error. Config data is corrupt. Steam was uninstalled. My system reqs are within specs for this game.

Ok, may be messed up indices or something in the filesystem. Run a chkdsk.
