No Just kidding... Next time tho, you should put the DX diag text in

{code}put DX diag here{/code}

replace the squigly brackets with real ones...

It'll make your thread much more readable...

As far as recommending a graphics card it all depends on your motherboards' available ports.

And weather or not they are AGP, PCI, or PCI express ports... (listed there from worst to best)

-----------------------------------------------------

After googling your card you definitely have a PCI-E port to use so your options are wide open...

If your on a really tight budget, I found this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130585

$42.99 for a 1GB Geforce 8400 GS (a definite upgrade to be sure, but nothing that'll blow your socks off...)

If your budget is Wide open then might I recommend this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130595

$330.00 (after Mail In Rebate) for a Superclocked 1280 MB (like 1.28 GB) Geforce GTX570

You should also think about upgrading to Win7 as XP does not support dx10.

I also recommend not upgrading to the 8400 as i can barely run the game at acceptable levels with a 9800gt.

So you think this 7600 GS 512MB GeForce graphix card is just too out dated to run this game? I have a motherboard with both AGP and PCI Express slots. The game says to run 8800GS.
My fallout NV game was running on my graphix card fine.

If a games requirements are 3GB RAM but I only have a 2GB memory card on motherboard, would I also need a full 1GB RAM on my graphix card to add to it?

Thankyoiu,

Just to clarify, the ram of the graphics card is not the same as the system ram. It does not factor into overall ram. Im guessing the 7600 won't run the game as i can barely get acceptable performance with a 9800. And yes you are gonna have to get another 2gb stick. Make sure you get the same speed ram.

Also if your going to upgrade, dont upgrade to anything too low because it would be a waste.

Video RAM does contribute to addressable memory though, so he's going to be capped at 4 gigs shared between system and video RAM due to the 32-bit Operating system which I believe he's using.

A 2 gig RAM upgrade will help in general, but with a 512 MB video memory, you're only going be able to use 3 1/2 gigs of RAM (you can put four gigs in, but the system will only acknowledge/recognize 3 1/2).

However, I'm not saying that is why Wipikas can't run Brink, I'm leaning towards the old video card holding him back... The motherboard will may limit any crazy video card upgrades, be sure to check compatibiliy (PCI Express 2.0, chipset, power supply).

VRam is only used for visual data so no it does not contribute... It is not utilized for any other purpose. He will need to get more ram.

I understand that, but a limitation on the 32-bit operating system will not address more than 4 gigs of ram, included in that 4 gigs is the half a gig on his video card. I was just saying that if he puts another 2 gigs of RAM into his system, he will only see the benefit from 1.5 gigs of that 2 gig upgrade.

[EDIT: I still think that biggest problem with the setup is the video card.]

So I don't see the difference in a 512MB video card and 1GB card the game doesn't specify this #. My motherboard only supports a pair of 1GB ddr2 RAM sticks which should be enough to run brink according to the box.

Thankyou, I will spend up to $160 on a new graphix processor. It calls for nvidia 8800GS.

Take a look at this and let me know which one u like:

Hey Wipikas,

If you want to make your money count, watch the "Hot Deals" section on the forums at www.hardocp.com they link the deals that are out there (for the US). Give it a week or two and you'll find something really good that's within your budget. They're pretty good at spotting hot deals. I'm not recommending that you buy from a member of Hardocp, but rather use the links to the retailers for a new product.

Compatibility with your motherboard is the main consideration you'll need to make.

As far as nVidia cards go, the current generation is in the 500's, the last generation is in the 400's. Aim for a 400 if you can, GTX is premium, GTS is lower end.
