Instead of a difficulty setting, there should be modifiers.

A modifier for damage dealt, and damage received.

Something like 50%, 75%, Normal, 125%, 150% for both damage dealt and received. Maybe a little more or less, not sure.

I want to be able to kill humanoid enemies in one shot with a bow without sneaking, but If I put the difficulty at novice, I'm invincible. I wish I could make both my health and enemies health lower. With the modifier, you can also replicate easier and harder difficulty as well, but it would give more option to people who want to make the combat more realistic.

It would be nice, especially seeing how it is the same thing as var as variables, just an added bar in the option menu

like i've stated in other posts-- it's all about OPTIONS. the generic slider difficulty bar that has already been used in elder games is gone. it shouldn't be. it has always been a very easy way to crudely, but, effectively, increase the difficulty.

should be an option in every rping game.

Absolutely, generic difficulty settings are fine, but give me an advanced tab to tweak my experience.

I'd love sliders (from -100% to +100%) for things like:
  • Player/Enemy Damage Dealt (separate sliders for magic & weapons)
  • Player/Enemy Damage Recieved
  • Player/Enemy Magicka Regen
  • Player/Enemy Spell Cost
  • Buy/Sell Price Adjustment
  • Enemy Scaling relative to player (from -10 levels to +10 levels above player)

I don't see how this could be difficult to implement... surely the modifiers are already there for difficulty levels & perks, just let us control them instead of giving us presets.

my perfect difficulty would be dame dealt at appretice difficulty and damage received at expert, so i think this idea is brilliant. plus its would make combat that much more satifying.

I like the idea of more customization. My ideal settings would combine damage received from high levels and damage dealt from low levels, similar to what godlkfabdude mentioned.

I would love the option to lock a difficulty on game start.

I'm not thrilled about switching difficulty between saves.

My destruction non-enchanter is weak enough on adept.
My enchanting conjuring sneak-archer is powerful enough for super-ultra-master mode.

Start a new game.
Set difficulty. (Free, novice, adept, expert, master -- where free lets you toggle ingame)
Toggle hardcoe at the start of a game; Dead is dead.

While I think that's ideal, in a game like Skyrim it's so hard to maintain a constant difficulty curve for so many different playstyles... I think being able to adjust the difficulty on the fly is a must. Depending on how you want to roleplay, the game will very likely get too hard or too easy as you go along, and you might need to adjust difficulty.

I do like the idea of some kind of hardcoe mode, like FO:NV had, that can't be changed and somehow rewards players who complete it.

um, you DO have the option to lock the difficulty setting at the beginning of every game and every gaming session, thereafter. YOU are the lock.
