I'm currently Level 5. Is it worth my time(or even possible?) to try to get to the New Vegas Strip without leveling and get the Intelligence Implant, so as to maximize my skill points progression?

According to the wiki page, everytime you level up, you gain 10+(Int/2) skill points. Getting the intelligence implant this early would only gain you extra 2.5 skill points, assuming you go there at level 10.

I personally would just enjoy the game, and not worry about the intelligence implant.

Its easy enough to get there by level 8 just avoid side quests.

You would need 4000+ caps to buy the implant too.

Worth it. I did it as soon as I could and I am loving the extra 0.5 point every other level (started w/ 9 INT). Its if you want those extra points or not but the sooner the better. So don't wait too long or it will be pointless... <---bad joke.
