Intense Training Perk Question

Post » Wed Mar 02, 2011 6:44 am

With the Intense Training Perk, it gives you 10 points to put into your Attributes at max level. I'm assuming you can put more than 1 point into the same attribute? For example, can you put more than one point from Intense Training into Strength if you wanted to?

Thanks.

Yes, you get a single S.P.E.C.I.A.L. point per rank of Intense Training. There are ten ranks of the perk which means should you decide to take this perk EVERY two levels, I can't fathom why you would, you would have a total of ten additional points to distribute amongst your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. score. However, no single attribute can be raised higher than ten points with Intense Training... I would imagine that the hard cap for any attribute is ten regardless of special gear, perks, etc.

Hope that answers your question.

Thank you, yes it did help :)

Although, can I just ask, why did you say "I can't fathom why you would"? Is the 'Intense Training' Perk not very good, compared to the others?

I only ask, because of the following post (if you don't mind reading for 45 seconds or so) - http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1135044-jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none-type-build/page__view__findpost__p__16609935

I think the 'Intense Training' Perk is worthwhile. I usually pick it a few times after I've chosen the one that gives you increased bonuses when reading skill books and maybe one other? (I can't remember at the moment).

I think it's a good way to 'round out' my character and 'fix up' a couple of weaknesses before I choose some of the more interesting options later on.

It just seems silly to be honest, I mean to each their own and all that jazz but there are so many other more valuable perks to take. Your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. score isn't so important that by buffing it like crazy you're going to be some powerhouse character. You're going to be missing out on a lot of helpful/powerful/convenient perks which, IMHO, will probably end up gimping your character in the long run.

Now, I don't know your playstyle either so this could be an obvious cause for conflict between our respective opinions... but I just don't understand what you hope to accomplish with 10/15 of your available perks being Intense Training. For myself, my S.P.E.C.I.A.L. is set up in a way that I can get the perks I prefer and become a raving demi-god lunatic  :gun: ... other than that, really doesn't matter too much to me... except INT, that's skill points baby. :goodjob:

Off topic, but I think they should do away with that perk and do like they did in F2, around level ten have one perk of each attribute and allow you to pick each one once and that's it.
