Intermittent VATS, PipBoy

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 1:31 am

Looked around for a bit and I didn't see this at all.

I have an intermittent issue. This happens maybe once or twice an hour.

I am unable to loot, open the pip boy, enter VATS, or aim/scope. When I try, I get the same click as I would when hitting the "e" key for the use item.

I left click to shoot, and then I can do all those things again.

I have verified game files with steam, and every time I do it will find 1 file failed to validate and will be reaquired. I have revalidated approx 5 times now.

Any ideas short of reloading the game?

Are you using mods?

Dont worry about reverification the file is a false positive.

What kind of mouse keyboard do you have? Are they wireless?
Can you post a 64-bit dxdiag? You could try updating your mouse and keyboard (if it has any) drivers.

I have the exact same issue and when it pops up I quick save then quick load to allow me to loot/VATS again. To describe what i'm seeing: I use VATS then on exiting VATS, I cannot scope, use VATS again, interact (it gives the negative interaction sound) and I seem to warp around a bit. I can shoot unscoped and move about.

I suspected it was an issue with dual monitors as it feels like everything is off-center post-VATS. If doggwa and I are having the same issue, it's doubtful it's a keyboard/mouse failure as the input devices continue to input, the game just doesn't act as expected.

Q6600@3.0, 4 gigs, 4870, win 7 x64. No failures in my dxdiag and happy to upload it later if it helps.

I experience something similar, but only when using the Cowboy Repeater. My theory is it has something to do with the click to interupt reload function.
