Just thinking to myself here...I currently don't have an Ethernet cord that will reach to my tv/xbox.

Are there any patches/content I will be missing if I am not connected to Live when I play my first game tonight? If so, what will I be missing?

Hopefully I won't have to buy a 20 FT Ethernet cord...

Any add-in content that you bought from xbox live won't show up if you later don't have internet. If you didn't buy anything from Live, you should be okay. I bought a 50 foot (cat 6) cable. It was costly. Never buy long cables of lower quality... cat 6 will work even at 50 feet.

Either that, or get a wireless router and a wireless connection for your 360. It was quicker/cheaper to buy a cable. Buy games with the dlc on disc to avoid this.
