[IDEA] Interruptions while resting

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 8:46 am

Just throwing this out there...

In a lot of games that have a resting element there is usually a possibility of interruptions when you rest. Sometimes it is an NPC that wakes you for something or enemies are attacking. Is this something that has already been considered or would anyone consider building this type of mod? I have 0 experience with this stuff nor do I have much time to even try my hand at it so I thought I might throw it out there for the immersion modders. Not sure if a script could be built that would make it so that resting in a house would be safe from typical bandits/monsters/aggressive creatures but maybe not from assassin/dragon/imperial/stormcloak attacks? This would make resting/waiting out in the wilderness a little more interesting and could maybe work nicely with a campsite mod.

Regardless of if this is do-able or desire-able, I am excited to get back into Skyrim now that my PC is repaired. I think I might even have to restart my game so I can start the experience again with all the awesome mods that have been released since my PC went down.

To all the modders out there, you guys are doing some awesome things and I can't wait to see where things go as more time passes.

This is something I'd like to do for Hearthfire, a camping mod in development that will be a sister to Frostfall and Last Seed. Might be weeks or months before it is available, but I do intend to do it.

That would be awesome and I would certainly give it some use. I need to give Frostfall a test drive when I start things over again, was a little concerned about it being tedious but I've found Skyrim to be a little too easy in some regards. I'm really thinking about playing it without fast travel as well as I think throwing in Frostfall and eliminating fast travel would make it quite the epic experience. Very excited to get back into things with all the awesome stuff that has been released since my last opportunity. I look forward to your future mods Chesko, thanks for the reply!

Frostfall has a feature built-in that can disable Fast Travel for you (as well as "Waiting" outside, if you're so inclined). Frostfall also has several pre-set modes and many, many configurable options in-game, so you can pick and choose how you play with it. For instance, if you feel that freezing water being lethal is tedious, you can turn it off. Some of the more "tedious" features are not on by default, such as Worn Equipment Affects Rate (WEAR) and Manual Fire Lighting. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
