I have the Amulet of Mara and I have the option to marry other NPC's, but not Iona. I want to marry either Iona or Muriri, and I'm probably going with Iona because 1.) Muiri seems like "she's been around" and 2.) I don't want her to hire some one to kill me if I upset her; both are characteristics I'm not particularly fond of in choosing a wife. Anyways, I'm sure it's a bug but what do I need to do to have the option to marry Iona, is it a console command? I have the PC version if it does take a command. Thanks for any help.

Never mind, I'm stupid. I was confusing Lydia with Iona (I thought Lydia looked less attractive on the wiki because I was looking at Iona, lol). I wanted to marry Lydia and you can't. I haven't even met Iona yet. Looking at the wiki, the marriage options aren't all that appealing. I wish my character wasn't so shallow!

The guide says Lydia is an option. You must become thane of white run.

I have become the Thane of Whiterun 6 times now.....and Lydia does not have marriage dialogue. I played with a new character last night and tried it again with the Mara necklace and the whole 9 yards...and still all I get is how she is "sworn to carry my burdens". I realize that I play on the 360 and have no command options...but Lydia is still listed as a marriage option which should be taken off the list. My question is...has there been any 360 players get marriage dialogue with Lydia? And if you did, how did you accomplish that?

Lydia is bugged. A Bethesda Developer (the guy posts here sometime) already admited to that and suggested that it'll be fixed in the Data patch we get in January.

As to Iona she drove me crazy.

For my money, I think the best looking marriageable female is Sylgja in Shor's Stone, and as a bonus (to a good-guy character) she's honest, hardworking, and is close with her parents. Ysolda in Whiterun is cute enough too, I think (but has probably been around just as much as Muiri has).

BTW, if you think the female options are bad, take a look at the male ones sometime. Most of them are elderly or hideous.
