iPod Touch

Music and movies are nice. So is being able to chat with people, read books (comic book apps will probably be my main thing), play games, browse the internet, etc. But even still, at $300, I'm a bit iffy about it.

$300 seems a bit steep for just 32GB of storage. 32GB is nothing. You can get 1TB HDD's for $60 or so, and at that price, I could get a rather large SSD. So, is the iOS something amazing and out of this world, and is the quality of these things so great to make the price worth while?

Also, how is Apple tech support? That's a huge factor for me.

32GB may seem like nothing but for an iPod it is plenty, you are not storing all kinds of documents or whatever like you would on a PC, which require more space. I'd say it is worth it, I like the iOS.

It's overpriced compared to other media players but it also has a lot going for it. You need to decide for yourself if everything that it has to offer are worth it. You shouldn't compare mobile storage capacity with desktop hard drives or SSD's, it just doesn't make sense.

Yeah it probably costs more to produce because it's smaller and portable, so I guess I can kind of understand.

Now that I think about it, I really could go with the 8GB version if all I want on it is mostly digital literature, and a bit of music. I doubt I'll ever put movies on it, as I don't think I could watch a screen that small, and really get into a movie. I might play a game occasionally depending on price/quality of the games.

How's the "sturdiness" of these devices? Are they extremely brittle? I'm pretty good about taking care of things like these, but accidents do happen, and I'd hate to drop it off my desk for example, and just ruin it.

Noone has ever truly watched a movie on an iPhone or iPod Touch... There are people who think they have, but the screen is just too small.

Apple's support quality almost always leads in comparisons

If playing games, reading comics, watching movies, and using the net is your thing, is perhaps a tablet (iPad even) better suited for you? The Apple online shop usually has iPad 1's on clearance/refurb.

Yes, assuming you simply must have an Apple product. I highly recommend Zune HDs.

ipod touch isn't really for hardcoe music listening or movie watching ^^;; You want the ipod mp3 player that offers more space.

I think the touch was more for phone stuff.

While I'm all for Apple hate, choosing a product that Microsoft is dropping like a bag of stones won't do you any favors in the long run.

Are the Zunes any good at all? I had a girlfriend a few years back who got one and it broke in about a week, got it replaced, and it too stopped working about a month later. Perhaps it was just an unlucky set of events, but that doesn't sound too good. Are they basically just iPods but made by MS?

Get an 8gb or 16 gb iPod. 32 gb is waay too much and you'll never use it unless you plan on storing movies on it.

Yeah I was thinking of getting an 8GB touch, but if another company offers a product with the same features and cheaper, I'd hate to over pay for an Apple product.
