its because god is punishing you just like he did to lots wife for turning to look at Gommorah
your game is not actually crashing god is turning your character to a pillar of salt

I might laugh if this made any sense.

it makes plenty of sense

there is a story in the bible about sadom and gommorah in which god instructs lot to leave gommorah as he will rain down fire and brimstone to punish the sinners
Lot is told that he may bring his wife with him, there is but one rule, they are not allowed to look at gommorah when this takes place
while they are leaving Lots wife decides she is going to turn and look at gommorah and laugh at the sinners being punished by god
Lots wife is then turned into a pillar of salt

it makes perfect sense, maybe you should do some reading once in awhile
get some of that oh what do they call it? culture? understanding? knowledge?
