issue about textures and lod

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 11:34 pm

Hello guys, i'm writing here because i hope that someone can help me with an issue that we are experiencing during the developing of the latest version of our mod, the problem is about the environment that is generated outside of the cell where the player is, in our case we changed the snow textures color in order to make them less reflective (compensation due our HDR script), but now they doesn't match with the LOD. Here is an example of the issue: http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/3981/problemzc.jpg

Is there a way to change the overbright out-of-the-cell area? I checked all the snowtextures and all the MATO with no results, how is generated that thing?

Thank you in advance.

You choose what textures get what LOD somewhere. I remember finding it once, just poke around for it. You need to change the LOD texture for your land texture so that it matches.

That textures (that for snow are only 2, snowlod and snowlodHD) are used only rarely, the LOD looks to be generated in a different way :\

When it makes teh ground texture it does based off those textures, which are based off the vanilla snow textures. (I.e. they are far brighter than your darker, custom ones.)

I think changing those to matching darker ones would fix this...

i tried to make them purple for example, but they looks to be used only on mountains and not on ground, the "level" one part (circled into this example screenshot: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/56806982/Screenshot5313.png ) looks still bright and it's not affected by the changes to snowlod and snowlodHD... this is why i started thinking that it was related to a "static" LOD that is not automatically updated by changing textures.

I think you'd have to generate new terrain LOD for the whole of Tamriel using the new texture,...although, I'm still not sure it would work.

Should i use the CK generator or an external tool like Oscape? Sorry for all the questions, but there is not documentation at all about this subject... :(

you need to redo the tamriel lod with oscape, otherwise new textures of course wont match the tamriel vanilla lod, there are some tutorials how to use oscape around here ...
