Its "IN" the knee ffs... IN!

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 10:30 pm

Why is it that the people that are beating that dead horse are not capable of DOING IT RIGHT?

It′s IN the knee, not TO the knee, it never was!

Just wanted to remind you, it′s simply infuriating that 90% of the guys using that joke are DOING IT WRONG!

Just don′t do it at all if you are not able to DO IT RIGHT!

Sry, i needed to get that out of my system...

Just think of it as slang. When people in Skyrim say "aye" do you think they're speaking gobbledeegook? People who live in northern england sound totally bonkers to how we speak "properly" down south.

And who cares? It was a stupid meme to begin with. It's only popular now because of Skyrim but when Skyrim is old and only the modding community cares enough to play it the meme will die with it.

I'll admit it was funny the first 3 times I saw it on Youtube comments but now it's just stupid.

Actually they don′t or else the "IN" the knee meme would be even more pointless.

+1

I'm amazed how people blatantly ignore the correct wording. I mean, we've all heard a guard say this about a million times and yet everybody seems to be using "to the knee". I know it doesn't really matter, but this phenomenon is fascinating nonetheless.

I know its just crazy. Soon there will be people talking in nothing but abbreviations and after that they'll be swapping numbers for letters in movies and then websites would have capital letters AFTER a lower case one and before we know it no one will know what the hell anyone is talking about!

Or we will, because language is an evolving thing that will constantly change and there will be no "right" way of pronouncing something. We don't all still use thy and thee, do we?

I'm not sure that you can compare misquoting a clear phrase that is 1 month old to the etymology behind 12th century vocabulary. Good effort though.

"to the knee" is not language evolution, it's a misquotation.
