Ive lost my companion...

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 3:32 am

I had a companion, the doctor.

He was there one minute, next time i turn around to look for him hes gone however when i ask cass to join me she says i have one to many.

Am i doomed to wonder the wasteland a lone ranger forever from now on or is there a way to fix this?

Any help would be much apreciated.

Thanks

I would retrace your steps, sometimes the companions get stuck on objects while they are walking with you. I would also check back at the fort he may have returned there. Hope this helps.

Go to Vault 22, take the elevator down to Pest Control (level 5?), and your companion should be there... why I don't know, but this is a confirmed fix.

I was wondering why Boone randomly showed up there when I told him to wait in Novac. It happens in Vault 34. I don't suggest going there though. The reasons will become clear once you meander over there.

If you haven't got to the vault yet there's still hope. I had ED-E disappear and around 3 days (real time) of playing later a message popped up saying he'd returned to Primm!? Sure enough he was there though, I'm guessing it resets their location after a long time or distance or something.;

The same thing happened to me with the Doc, one minute he was there and the next he was gone (right in the middle of his quest)! The really odd thing was I could still hear him (when I crouched or attacked) for a few hours!? Then he went completely and no other followers would join me. :( I tried re-tracing my steps to the last dozen or so places I had been, waiting/sleeping for days and checking the Fort all to no avail.

I was going to put something up on this forum as it was really starting to annoy me but then saw this thread! Went to Vault 22 pest control and there he was!! :woot:

Thanks Cyric for the fix!

Why won't the board mods make a maintained sticky post with these player discovered fixes so
that people with the issues can find a answer without spending hours weeding through all these posts?

Rhetorical question I don't expect you to have an answer.

Perhaps one of the mods might consider the kindness of the purchasers of the game to do something like this though.

It might help me consider Bethesda in a more positive light in the future for possible game purchases.

At this stage I"ve stopped playing the game and am hoping they manage to fix it to playable (tolerable) for me MONTHS after I bought it.

So, feel free to improve my feelings, Bethesda.

I am on the PS3 version and this fix has not helped me. ED-E was blown to bits in an explosion, (I am not on hardcoe mode), and now the game registers that he is a companion, but he is no where to be seen. I made my way to Vault 22 and tried that fix. I guess, by reading this thread, Vault 34 might work as well.

It's been several in game days by the way. Long enough for me to get rid of Boone by asking him to wait at some place.
