DB: To join or not to join?

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 6:53 am

So I have read a little bit about the DB quests and how you can either join or kill off the brotherhood. Would I miss out on any cool armor/weapons, etc. if I decide not to join and kill off the brotherhood instead, or do you get better stuff if you join and do all the quests? My character is sneak-heavy so I don't want to miss out on good rewards.

when doing the DB you get the Shrouded armour, blade of woe and the horse Shadowmere. At the end you get 20,000 coins (I got that on Novice, dont know if its less on a harder setting) . I would say do it just for the story and the fun of interacting with all the characters.

Killing them all nets you 3000 gold, anything you can loot from them, and a cleared out sanctuary. Also gaurds thank you.

Joining gives cicseros clothes, lucien lachance summon, 20,000k at the end, emporers robes, shadowmere, and the dawnstar sanctuary.

Personally I thought ciceros clothes looked dumnb, I can enchant better ones. Ihave beter summons, already rich, shadowmere can die and the sanctuary looks bad...

I will take the thanks and praise, and be known as the guy who wiped out the DB. Last sanctuary in all of tamriel, andI destroyed it.

I slaughtered the DB on my first character. You get a set of light armor and a set of robes that way, as well as the blade of woe. If you don't mind murdering I would join the DB, but otherwise just kill em.

I played through their quests and liked it, but afterwards felt it didn't suit my character... So I started over, and killed 'em.

If you're a sneak character the shrouded gloves are EXTREMELY helpful. With a nice dagger and the perk that increases dagger sneak attacks, you do x30 damage and can slit the throat of almost anything in the game.

Edit: I don't know if you can get them if you kill the DB. You could probably take them off a corpse, but I joined them and have been having a lot of fun.

Yeah, you can loot them off the corpses of the dead Brotherhood folks. If I recall correctly, you actually get 2 pairs. Shame they can't be disenchanted.

Do the bonus objective for Gabriella and you can get access to the better version of the shrouded armour called the ancient shrouded set. Better bonuses and more armour.

Since you're talking about "cool armor/weapons", I take it you're not doing a semi strict roleplay concept.

But it still depends. What do you want more? A nice dagger or a quick and easy 3,000 gold? If the latter, kill them all. If former, play through it.

I did it just to do the quests... on my third character I've decided to destroy it, but I haven't yet...

Killing them off is fun. I normally join, but they just seem to be a shadow of their former selves. And are a bit crazier.

You don't get to loot the dagger off a DB member? The only way to get it is to play the quests? I'm semi-roleplaying my character- a sneaky bow-using, dagger-using type guy. I don't care about the gold bonus, so I think I'm going to kill them off. It fits my character better anyway, i.e. having the sneak skills, but a more righteous, moral character. I kinda like the idea of my character infiltrating the DB, getting the perks, but not joining them.
