Jordis the Sword Maiden

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 1:22 am

I left Jordis waiting in Solitude whilst I went off to fight in the Civil War.

The war is now over, & I've returned to Solitude. However, I can't get Jordis to follow me again - she obeys every other command, but when I say "follow me" I get the usual spoken response, but she stays where she is. I've tried "parting our ways" first, but it makes no difference.

Anybody know how to get round this?

Thanks.

Are you still Thane? Just askin' throwin' that out there.... Maybe you need to be reinstated after the war?I haven't done it yet, so I don't know what happens with Thaneships...

I dunno, I think the Thaneship only needs to be reinstated if there's a new Jarl in town, and Elisif is still Jarl no matter how the war turns out.

If you did not dismiss Jordis and have her go back to her home location before the battle, but simply told her to wait somewhere in Solitude, that could be the issue (just a hunch). When you are taking a city for one side or the other in the war, it does something temporarily to everything about your "life" there, like it gets put on hold until the battle is over and you leave and come back after some time has passed. If Jordis was just left waiting during the battle maybe she got glitched somehow.

If you are on PC, and currently have no other followers, I would try the console command set playerfollowercount to 0 to reset things. You can also use show playerfollowercount first, if you truly dismissed Jordis and have no other followers it should say the count is zero, if not then resetting it to zero as noted above may solve that.

Aela acts wacky if you keep her as a follower during the civil war. But Jordis does not. She follows you through it without issue. I'm sorry you ran into this problem. I have not experienced it.

If you are on PC try clicking on her and then typing 'moveto player', it may unfreeze here. I experience this with Mjoll all the time and this seems to help. If your on console....sorry?

Ah, I didn't realize you were using UFO. When I first started using it I had a few issues with followers giving me the all the correct options but then not actually following any of my orders. I was experimenting with other supposedly compatible follower mods at the time and I think some were redundant and/or the load order was not working. Finally had to dismiss everyone and follow the UFO special instructions for completely removing it from the game. Then I got all the other mods sorted out correctly and put UFO back in and since then it's been fine.

Yep, you can't just remove UFO from your active mods list in the Data Files or Mod Manager, you have to disable it from within the game itself and then take it out of the active list.

Unfortunately I don't think there's a readme included with the download, the instructions are on the Nexus page for it. You have to dismiss all your current followers, then go to Riverwood and look for a special NPC named "Tina." She's a firefly. No, really. She usually hangs out over by the mill and lumberyard. There are also instructions for how to use the console to locate her if you want to be quick about it, lol. You have to talk to her (I think it actually says "Catch Tina") and you get popups verifying that you want to remove UFO. Then you'll get another message saying it's done. Then you can save and exit and disable the mod completely. If you reenable it again it should be a clean installation when you reload.

My process is this (I do a lot of saves just to be safe):

Dismiss all followers
Use show playerfollowercount to verify that I have zero followers
If the game shows I still have followers, I use set playerfollowercount to 0 to reset my follower count
Save game
Do the TIna thing to uninstall UFO
Save game, exit
Remove UFO from active mods
Reload game
Use show playerfollowercount to verify that I still have zero followers
Save game, exit
Add UFO back to active mods
Reload game, enjoy thoughts of having giant mob of loyal sycophants following me around carrying all my junk
