Joshua Graham aka The Burned Man

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:50 am

Well if Joshua reacts like most people who have been wronged then he will have a deep seated hatred for the Legion and anyone connected with it. The most likely scenario would be that he will have survived the fall from the dam and had spent the years healing up and figuring out a way to destroy the legion. His burning hatred of the Legion will be the thing that has kept him alive this long. I suspect that there would be stories of him circulated within the slave population about what Graham did to members of the legion when he found them ... creating an Urban Legend as it were. I also suspect that he would ally himself with anyone who opposed the Legion including the NCR. I suspect he might ally with the NCR simply because his hatred of the Legion was far more intense than his hatred of the NCR. However, a more likely scenario would be that he somehow runs into the courier and due to the fact that their goals are the same ... at least for the present that he would ally himself with the courier. Providing of course that the courier is working to destroy the Legion. What would happen after the Legion was destroyed is anyone's guess, I suppose a lot would depend on what effect the courier's actions had on Graham.

Yeah I doubt he'd work with the NCR either. Its their fault he lost the battle to begin with. If he'd work with any faction that he himself doesn't head, I'd wager it'd be for a free Vegas.

Personally I hope he cant actually be killed in game, only losing consciousness so he can lead the Legion in later games.

Yes, but wasn't the NCR trying to kill him because he was the main Legion Commander? It is always a good idea to kill off the commanders in order to break up the chain of command, this is sop for literally every military organization on the planet. SOP = Standard Operating Procedure for those whoe did not know.

Standard procedure or not, it could still be perceived as 'their' fault.

In the Van Buren docs, Graham seemed to have a a very short temper, in some cases looking violently unstable. If the New vegas incarnation of him is anything like that, I doubt he's going to look at it logically and go "I guess it isn't really their fault, they was just doing their job after all..."

You are correct in stating that Graham would never work directly with the NCR nor would he ever join them but that is not to say that he would not work with either a faction or join forces with someone who had basically the same goal as he had. I do believe he would in fact work in coalition with a free vegas as the final outcome. However, I think that his ultimate goal would likely be to rule Vegas or at least bring it under his control which would put him in opposition to the Courier. Heh, the possibilities are endless.
