Joshua Graham/Joshua in the bible.

Wow I just found this and I have to tell you that its way too similar to Joshua Graham's story to be a coincidence. I know it isn't exact but I'm sure some of it was used. I know I might be looking too much into this but I just wanted to point this out it seemed to big to be posted in the other thread.

On wikipedia I researched "Joshua" from the bible and I found this. Also you can probably change muslim to mormon since that was what religion Graham was. Also Graham was probably a spy that sabotaged the legion thats why he failed at hoover dam maybe on purpose? I dunno.

"He was one of the twelve spies of Israel sent by Moses to explore the land of Canaan."

"After the death of Moses, he led the Israelite tribes in the conquest of Canaan, and allocated the land to the tribes." -

"Joshua died at the age of 110" -

"Joshua also holds a position of respect to Muslims. According to the Qur'an, he was, along with Caleb, one of the two believing spies whom Moses had sent to spy the land of Canaan."

"All Muslims also see Joshua as the leader of the Israelites, following the death of Moses. Although some Muslims see Joshua as a prophet, others view him not as prophet but as a saintly man and great leader. Muslim's also believe Joshua to be the "attendant" of Moses mentioned in the Qur'an, before Moses meets Khidr."

Moses and Joshua = Caeser and Joshua Graham?

"He was commander at their first battle after exiting Egypt, against the Amalekites in Rephidim, in which they were victorious" - Caeser conquering the smaller tribes like the blackfoot tribe etc.

"Moses appointed Joshua to succeed him as leader of the Israelites. The first part of the book of Joshua covers the period when he led the conquest of Canaan."

"The Israelites faced an alliance of Amorite kings from Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon. At Gibeon Joshua asked God to cause the sun and moon to stand still, so that he could finish the battle in daylight. This event is most notable because "there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel. (Joshua 10:14) God also fought for the Israelites in this battle, for he hurled huge hailstones from the sky which killed more Canaanites than those which the Israelites slaughtered. From there on, Joshua was able to lead the Israelites to several victories, securing much of the land of Canaan."

Seriously some of this is too much of a coincidence, Canaan? Joshua? and their battles. I don't know but I just wanted to point that out.

He was to be in Van Buren. I doubt the story will be 100% the same but the basic idea will be the same.

I think your onto something.

Seems like they borrowed a thing or two. Nice find, and something to think about.

Pretty much what FO series has said before, War...War Never Changes....Basically History repeats itself. Maybe not exactly but basically it does. And if we don't learn from it were doomed to repeat itself.

How many people did I just quote?

It's absolutely symbolic, yes. I'm not sure about the spy part though. If Moses=Caesar, then why would Joshua be a spy against him? Also, him being a spy on behalf of the Mormons wouldn't make sense, Joshua was supposed to be a [censored], murdering bastard.

EDIT: Really, you're blocking that?
Figures.

Just a heads up. :)

This is a bit of a tricky topic, because we don't allow religious discussions on these forums.

If you want to discuss similarities and discrepancies between the Joshua in the game and the biblical Joshua, that's fine but please try to keep it down to facts and please leave any opinionated content out of it and don't start debating the biblical component.

Its not uncommon e.g Andraste in DA was a warrior prophet who fought for the maker. Andraste is a celtic godess of war.
Personally I kinda like how they take some things, especially stuff like joshua because it seems more original, mainly because most people probablly arent aware of it. ANd its interesting to put a spin on that stuff.

If I'm not mistaken this fits perfectly in the speculation thread we already have about Graham: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1159461-joshua-graham-burned-man-speculation/
