Jumping out the Helgen tower.

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 3:43 pm

In the beginning of the game, when you jump out of the tower, you take damage. I went back there later to loot what remained in Helgen, I jumped out the tower to the second floor. No damage. I'm curious as to why this happens, considering the drop is the same. Any thoughts?

Perhaps you didn't notice the first time you were jumping into a burning building? It's the fire that gives you damage at the start.

I am glad they finally got this effect in. It should hurt when you walk into or land on a fire.

Now, if they could just do something about the freezing cold water. I mean, really, if I was swimming without a wetsuit in water with ice bergs in it, it would sap my health.

It's still cold in wetsuits. Believe me, it's freezing your ears off.

The only thing is some camp fires don't burn at all, and then other times other types of fires do burn. Also, after more than 200 hours of play I just found out that jumping in a forge was a bad idea - I thought they didn't burn like camp fires.

Not true! I often swim in Scottish Lochs cold enough to freeze even brass balls (It's a naval term, not rude), and all it does is make your chest hairy and turn you briefly into a woman (might be rude).

In my misguided youth, I walked through a camp fire a time or two and did not get burned, so I can see this. Yes, I walked quickly and no I can't remember why I did it. But I had good reason.

You ever heard of the Polar Bear Clubs? These idiots think it is fun to jump into an ice covered lake in January in swim trunks. Of course, they talked me into one year. I really did not think a person could bounce out of the water like I did. I jumped in and either it was a twitch or spasm or something but I remember flying back out of the water onto shore. Which of course was covered with ice and snow and I promptly slid back into the water. Then it was just a mad scramble to get back on shore. Which is why I call them idiots to this day. I earned it.

No sorry, just had to.

OT: Fire from bonfires and such won't hurt you, they did in Oblivion.

I like when someone appropriately compliments someone else with "Like a boss." It's like the universe is happy today. Anyway, please: carry on.

Not only that, about 5-10 minutes in that kind of water and you'd be in deep hypothermia, or even just walking around wet. unless you're a hardy Nord it seems a bit silly really :P

It is cold, yes. Poor, poor Ma'zad. it got to find towel, yes. Or maybe some warm sands, yes. It doesn't know.

Probably the reason there are so few Khajiits in Skyrim, and why the holds won't let them settle down.
Can't have someone take all the towels, can we?
